Book #83 Read in 2015
Lost by S.A. Bodeen (YA)

This is the sequel to Shipwreck Island and a good series for middle school readers. Lost picks up right where the first book picks up so reading the first one is suggested. The family is still marooned on the island and trying to figure out how to survive until they are rescued. The island continues to be scary with its unknown creatures that shouldn't exist. There will definitely be a third book in this series as this one ends with quite the cliffhan

This is a really excellent series for kids who want adventure in high doses but with a lower page count, and S.A. Bodeen totally pulls it off. While I was a bit iffy about some of the family dynamics in the first book, I totally get it now. I was so hyperfocused on a girl who wouldn't eat enchiladas made by her new stepmom that I didn't look at the big picture.

I'm really lucky. Both of my parents are alive, and they're together, and I love them very much. But I've had time to reflect on the fami

This is the second book in the Shipwreck Island series and is filled with adventure. Sarah Robinson, her father, her new stepmother and two new stepbrothers were shipwrecked on the island in book 1 where they had all sorts of dangerous adventures.

In this episode they find a new person. Cash is another twelve-year old like Sarah and Marco. She tells a wild story about how she ended up on the island. The parents don't believe her but the kids who have seen things they haven't told their parents d

I don’t read a lot of Middle Grade but S.A. Bodeen is on my auto buy list and Lost is a perfect example of why. I don’t believe that all children’s fiction necessarily appeals to all adults nor should it…but there are a few authors that somehow manage to write in such a way that those boundaries are easily crossed. S.A. Bodeen is one such writer.

Sarah and her step brother Marco take turns telling the story in Lost, the second in S.A. Bodeen’s Shipwreck Island series. We start off right where we

I have been wanting to read this book ever since I read book one, Shipwreck Island, almost a year ago. I really liked the first book. It was exciting and pretty awesome. But also so short, and it ended pretty mean. So I was pretty excited to get this ARC from Macmillan. Had to read it right away. I'm glad I did.

Though I didn't love this book as much as a loved book one, yet I still enjoyed it a whole lot. I just had some issues with the writing this time. Sigh. It felt a bit weird to me. But I s

Another fabulous installment in the Shipwreck Island series. Very engaging and full of twists and turns. Once again, she leaves us on a cliffhanger. And now to wait a year until the next book comes out!

A fine continuation of the series, but so short! This book was only 135 pages, give or take. I was surprised - it ended very abruptly, feeling more like the end of a chapter than the end of a stand-alone book.
Maria
A quick read - and a series I think that upper elementary kids will like. Adventure and mystery on this island.
