Hugo Horiot is in love with wheels and all that cranks or turns. He is obsessed with the otherworldly language of pipes—they run, he imagines, from his family home to the center of the earth. He causes endless trouble at home and hates school. He muses: “I dream asleep, I dream awake”—but he dreams so hard he shuts out the world with reveries that are not just curious but ...more

A connaître !

The Emperor, C’est Moi is an autobiographical work by Hugo Horiot, a French actor with high-functioning autism. The book follows Horiot’s life through a series of vignettes that progress chronologically from his toddler days until his introduction to professional acting in his young adult life. Some segments highlighted in the narrative include his fascination with pipes and circles as a child, his complex relationship with hi

An odd but endearing little book about a little boy and the battles that he wages.Though the author was diagnosed with autism it isn't about that really. It's more about the way we all feel like outsiders from time to time and the things we do to cope. ####I won this through goodreads in exchange for an unbiased review ######

Great little book I won from goodreads... It really makes me feel for the outsiders in life and as a teacher helped me better understand how students with autism or outsiders feel and is a great book to discuss with students in middle school... But read the book first!

Wonderful portrait of a wonderful kid. Delicate, true, sometimes heavy to digest as life is. I loved it, from the beginning to the end.
