I liked them, & I didn't.
I read these when I was a teenager. I don't think the twisted nature of these books was good for a young naive mind. I felt bad for the children, no-one should have to live like that.
I still remember the smut that I read that upset me, yet kept me wondering about what else was in the next book.
I don't think these are books that young minds should read.
Actually, are they really good for anyone to read? I wonder why the author would write books like this?...more

Ugh... It was a very compelling story - I read the book quickly. But the subject matter was just so tough to "hear". There were several times I felt sick, mad, disgusted, confused, etc. I understand that there are more books following the stories of these kids, and I want to know what happens to them, but I really don't want to live through it.

This is one of the books in this V.C. Andrews series, there are like four or five. They are all so wonderfull to read so check them all out. At the end of reading them all you will not believe about how the stories all come together.

recommends it for:
13 year old girls and you.
I intend to write my dissertation on this series if and when I get off my keister and go get my PhD. It'll be a long serious discussion of teen girl sexuality in the realm of the Southern Gothic.

These books are trashy but I found them somewhat stimulating in my early adolescence.
