Insightful book about general systems theory and the like. As it was written in the 1960s, a bit outdated and the baseline level of knowledge that was accessible was limited compared to today's standards. For one thing, he lends credence to Freudian theory, which made me sad. If you keep an open mind about the "unknowns" at the time, the book posits very clever and insight comments about different aspects of our "image". This was the first book of theory, or of any kind, to have really grabbed my imagination. I was a young reader, but this one taught me something about the nature of "Nature", and the dillemma which is always open between what things are and how they're thought of. His theory of Oraganization gave a structural approach to social systems that stemmed out of variously complex mechanisms of differentiation and responsiveness.
Offers great insight to how we view and categorize everything that is abstract and tangible around us. A great book for those who are into the subconscious. A pretty easy read for something that is primarily meant for scholarly use.
