So, this turned out to be somewhat useless, as a lot of restaurants in Paris are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, two of the nights we were there. We tried to go to one of the recommended restaurants on two nights in a row, and were totally rejected - we were told that they were full for the whole evening. No helpful explanation as to when we could next expect to reserve a table for or anything. I think my resentment has extended to the book. No matter, I will likely forget about it by the ti...more

Yummy! On par with Paris By Bistro by Graf, C., however less history, more food! Where the vegetarians go. Where to find good Asian food. How to make a reservation, and how to order and tip. Difference between fixed-price menu and a la carte, between a bar a vin and a neo-bistro.
And then the foodie descriptions! Luscious.
Also, included markets so that every meal does not have to be eaten in a restaurant.
This is the itinerary of my dream vacation.

I actually haven't read this cookbook of hers, but the one I love isn't on here! I recommend finding her other book, "Chocolate and Zucchini."

Comprehensive and useful. Designed well--gives location with cross street. Good recommendations.

This book has a lot of good information about specialty shops and markets. However, I found the restaurant section to be hit & miss. Some of the restaurants were great and as described. Some were so-so and not worth visiting. The restaurants listed tend to be on the high end.. There are many "neo-bistros" & gastronomic restaurants listed and not enough casual places listed (at least for my budget). I found Cityvox (the Yelp of Europe) to be more helpful most of the time when searching ...more

This will definitely be a handy little book to have on my next trip to Paris. Not only does Clotilde provide a great review of restaurants, but she also has little excerpts on restaurant etiquette and such.

Well written food and travel writing. I've been carrying it around with me in Paris but will likely leave it behind with a friend who lives here as there is such good local information on spices, chocolates, tea, coffee, and such. C'est delicieux.

I've looked foward to this writer's second book for ages. Although mostly a travel guide rather than a cookbook (like her first)it still has her French signature. One day I'll be in France and this well read guide will be in my bag.

Delightful read that I will definitely toss in my bag when I make it to Paris. Clotilde does a great job in translating the Parisian dining experience and has some great tips for the markets.
