The Wayward Eight fought for the Confederacy against the Union and the hated President Lincoln. Times have changed, however, in the United States in odd ways. Recruited by Pinkerton, the eight have joined forces with the Union under special orders from the incognito Lincoln to take out Dr. Carpathian. Suspicion and jealousies may stop the venture before it starts.

This book started off a bit rough for me. Initially, I had a difficult time trying to picture some of the things the author was speaking about due to a lack of descriptiveness in some areas. Once I was able to get beyond that, I found the book quite enjoyable.

In this alternate history story, America's Civil War is in full bloom. Aside from the Union and Confederate forces, there are other factions at large to include Native American nations and an army under the control of a man named Carpathian

A nice jaunt through the Wild West Exodus world. A few of the characters seemed two dimensional and the plot a tad thin. The events unfold in a straight path to predictable conclusion. Still, as a fan of the table top game, it fleshes out the background.
