I loved the illustrations which looked like woodcuts--a favorite art form of mine--but were actually done with scratchboard. The topic of flora and fauna found in the tallgrass prairie is also close to my heart. However, the book failed, in my estimation, as an alphabet book by naming items that were unpronounceable or recognizable to children.
