I wavered between 2.5 and 3 stars on this one.
Have I mentioned how much I love books lately? Well, I do. One of the greatest things about books is that what doesn’t ‘work’ for one reader will very likely work for many others. I’m guessing that’s probably the case with “The Bride of Casa Dracula” by Marta Acosta. This is Acosta’s third book starring Milagro De Los Santos. Milagro De Los Santos is flying high. She is engaged to the love of her life, Oswald Grant. She has a ghost-writing project to keep her busy and a firm grasp on her red-coloured cravings.
Never mind that she and Oswald are fighting constantly, minus any make-up sex since the vampire council has banned copulation until the wedding. She is writing a memoir for Don Pedro, a self-proclaimed shapeshifter who also happens to be a complete nutbar. And Milagro’s blood cravings are only under control when...more

The story so far... Oswald has proposed to Milagro by the end of the 2nd book, they were both thrilled and Milagro couldn't be any happier. She's marrying the one she loves and in turn he loves her back. Her best friend Nancy appoints herself as the Wedding Planner and was doing a fantastic job keeping Oswald's mom at a safe distance while she writes a memoir for the weirdo and self proclaimed shifter Don Pedro, everything seems to be in place. It was her dream come true, until it's not...

Book 3 of Milagro De Los Santos' adventures pulls you in from page one and doesn't let you go until you turn the last page. I was so absorbed by the book that I read it in one sitting.
At the end of Midnight Brunch , Oswald proposes to Milagro. Cheers are heard across the land. Except for inside the Council. Or from his Mother. Oh, and Ian isn't very happy about it, either. But, our Milagro knows what she wants and is determined to get it. So she dutifully heads off (aloneOswald has to work, of...more

I have to admit that this is the only Casa Dracula book that have read as of yet and it was not bad... Milagro De Los Santos is however not going to become one of my go to favorite reading about characters as not only do I find her somewhat too much, but also am not really too caught up in the 2ndry characters either... The book was a used buy and well worth reading as it was fast, easy and actually kind of intriguing in spots.. My problem came when "true love" was thrown over for "true lust" af...more
Since the release of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Series, it has opened up a huge niche for Paranormal Romances especially involving Vampires/Vampyres depending which book your reading. For all those who loved Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones Diary and Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire either the books or the films, and then you are sure to enjoy this as I place it as a mix between those two.

The Bride of Casa Dracula marks a rather serious time in Milagro's less than serious life. This slight shift in tone makes the book just as witty as previous installments, but a little less laugh out loud funny.
As we lead up to Milagro and Oswald's wedding, the couple continues to battle outside forces set upon destroying their relationship. There is lots of Ian, which always spells trouble for Oswald. Luckily, we get to see Milagro's F.U. pal Nancy as the wedding planner, spouting her memorable...more

I LOVE this series! There I said it and I will say it as many times as I need to. Marta Acosta does the impossible and brings something new to the Vampire table with the Casa Dracula series and the result is a hilarious, fun and amazing series that I am sad is over.

First I have to post what Acosta herself called her books: comedies-of-manners, or romantic comedies with lots of chaos, confusion, charming villains, eccentrics, and flirting. Which really fits since this is not the normal kind of paranormal romance. Far from it. I just want to called it a witty romantic comedy involving humans who like blood and as Acosta said lots of flirting.
Read her books! Lol, honestly they are so funny. I just love Milagros, she is witty, she has curves, she flirts, she...more

An amazingly fast and fun read!
I happened across this book in a bargain bin not realizing it was part of a series. It stands alone pretty well, although I definitely found myself wishing I had read the previous two---both because I would have understood the characters, relationships and history better (especially when Milagro does something I felt was stupid) as well as because I liked the writing and figured I would have enjoyed the others (which I will probably go back and read now).

I enjoyed this quite a bit. I have a feeling it's a middle book in a series, although I couldn't find any information to confirm or deny this. Either way, it was extremely easy to read as a stand alone, and I'll definitely look up others by this author. It was actually a little uncomfortable to read at times, because Milagros reminds me a lot of myself.
But: even though it was a vampire book, it didn't feel cliched at all.
It was definitely my book of the week.

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series and I enjoyed this too. I really like the style of writing and also the language used and I found myself giggling every now and then. However I felt it was a little slow. There wasn't enough going on to quite keep be gripped. I was quite surprised by the not so fluffy and happy ending and think it leaves it open and interesting for the next book, which I will read.
Anyway, it has been added to a new shelf I made (thanks to a review I read of Misfit's) that is called "couldn't finish". I absolutely hate doing this with a book but I just couldn't drum up enough interest in this book to continue. It just seemed to contrived and tried very hard to be funny which made it just boring. I see it has a half ways decent review average so I guess it's just my kind of book. I will change the shelf as soon as possible, not sure what is going on there.

A friend gave me this book a couple of months ago - and I have to say that at first I was wondering about this novel that had vampires and a latina main protagonist. I love the vampire theme for sure, but had realized I hadn't read any novel in this genre. When I started reading it, I knew that there had been a background to this book (as this was the third in the series) and I felt a bit sad that I didn't know any of the characters, but when I got over page 50 and when Ian came into the picture...more

This book came close to pushing my embarrassment squick several times. I liked the first book better than this one or the second one, because that one felt like the best blend of personal growth and screwball romantic comedy hijinks.
I did like the ending note, so I might keep reading the series.

I didn't know, diving into this book, that it was the third book in a series. So maybe my 3 stars isn't entirely fair, since one of the things I didn't like was lack of character dimension. These characters had been developed over two whole books previously so no time was wasted on back-story with them which left me feeling pretty flat about them. But still, it is a fun, vampiric, chic-lit romp that offered some laughs. I'd still recommend starting at the beginning: Midnight Brunch at Casa Dracu...more
I do not generally leave reviews not because I don't care but because I DO care. I do not want to color a book for other people however This book is kinda killing me. The third in the series I feel like the writer kinda hates her main character but I do not know why. In fact I think I will ask her why. Anyway I love the books but am dismayed by the writers treatment of Milagro. Perhaps I will understand once she responds to my message in the mean time I recommend these books to anyone who enjoy...more
This was the third book in Marta's series and it was full of everything you would want. A lot goes on and a lot changes leaving you ready for book four. I'm very glad that Haunted Honeymoon is out because I'm eager for the next. I love reading about Milagro and her trial and errors...lol. Score one for team Ian in this one.
