So far this is my favorite books in this series, and I enjoyed it from the start until the end :)

I really like Emma. She's spunky and perfect for Angus. Good humor, tension, and action. The story flowed very smoothly, even with the additional bit with Shanna and the baby. This was an all around great read!
This was a pretty funny book! Of course, I didn't realize at the time that this was book 3.. and I haven't read 1 or 2 but I still understood everything that was going on.

I've read three books and one short story in the Love at Stake series. Be Still My Vampire Heart has the weakest title in the series so far but it's the best story. The series definitely seems to be getting better. At first, the books were mostly fluff read, comparable to your basic Harlequin romance. As of this book, the plots are getting a little juicier. Hopefully, it will stay that way, because I do like the characters and the little Vampire world that Sparks has created, with the Vamps vs the Malcontents and Romatech's Fusion Cuisine. I absolutely loved this book! I enjoyed the first two, but this one seemed perfect to me. I love Angus; I love all the Scottish vampires. Emma was strong and confident and exactly what I want in a heroine. You know what else I loved? Getting to see the characters from the previous books actually interact with the new characters! I enjoyed this 3rd book much, much more than the 2nd book. It's pretty much just the exact reverse of book #2, but way better. The humor that was missing from #2 is back, especially w/ Gregori. And I love that Shanna and Roman have bigger cameos too. I must admit, I wasn't really that into Angus, but hearing his story was great. I am seriously loving these kilted vampires...and an accent always does me in. Whew. I really enjoyed reading the banter between the Emma and Angus...both characters are smart as well as kick a**. Ok, so far the best in the series. I loved Angus and Emma was a great heroine. In this book the romance between them had a much better development than in the last two, it seemed more real. I really like this series, not a fave but a really quick, fun read.

I loved the first book in the series, was refreshingly surprised by the second, but the third just gives more of the same. Vampire hunter tells herself she could never love a vampire, but ends up falling madly in love with one anyway after a week of knowing one. It's the second novel reversed. Since I enjoyed All I Want for Chistmas is a Vampire, I was interested in reading the other books in Sparks's Love at Stake series. And was not disspointed with this one. As with her other book, I enjoyed this story and all its characters. Since this is book 3, and I already read book 5, I kind of knew how it would end. This is my second time actually reading this book; the first time was about a year ago, and was my entrance into Kerrelyn Sparks. It's the 3rd novel in the Love At Stake series and admittedly, probably my favorite so far. Very much in line with the first book in the series, but the author's writing, or the editing, or both, have improved. A decent if not spectacular paranormal/vampire romance. The leading man is adorable, the plot is weak but acceptable. The author's strength is in writing vivid characters that are quite likable, including the supporting characters. Kerrelyn Sparks' books remind me of Lynsay Sands (Argeneau series). They are very light vampire romance. I must say that in this book the sex scenes were a little steamier than the first two.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the two main characters, Angus and Emma. Angus was your typical tall, dark and handsome Highlander and Emma was your no-nonsense CIA operative. Their cute banter and teasing made the book an enjoyable read.

Anyone who reads and enjoys fiction and romance can understand that it's pretty difficult to get your hands on a good romance novel. that if you're looking for a decent one you're best bet is to stay away from the "romance" isle and stick to the "fiction" section where you'll find Nicholas Sparks, and Danielle Steele. Can a hero get any more masculine, alpha, gorgeous, loving than our kilt wearing Scot Angus MacKay? I think NOT!..He is every woman's dream. A warrior, a friend, has a sense of humour, loyalty and you can rely on him to do the right thing. Better than Vamps and the City, but still not the high I felt with How to Marry a Millionaire. I think its just the classic case of nothing beats the first book in the series.
