Anything That Can Go Wrong . . .

Nothing is going to go wrong. Ashley Miles has worked too hard for her independence to let some Bentley-driving hunk named Quinton Murphy interfere with her plans -- or her freedom. Yes, the chemistry is phenomenal. Kind of scary, actually. But that s it. NO emotional commitments.

Quinton Murphy knows what he likes and what he likes is Ashley Miles, May's best friend. But Ashley is willful, stubborn and has a plan for her life. She works hard and he knows he doesn't factor into her future. Good thing he's as stubborn as she is because he wants her in his life and he is going to make her realize that she can have her future and he can be a part of it. But he's not counting on how protective she is going to be of her heart. He knows she is hiding something from him and he w...more

This wasn't bad and could have been better had Ms. Foster not rushed the ending. She built up the story for 300 pages and then wrapped everything up in a neat little bow in the last 25 pages. I didn't understand why she did this. It was like she had a page limit that she couldn't go over. I enjoyed the interplay between the characters especially some of the minor characters. You definitely should read Ms. Foster's earlier book, Jude's Law before this book as it explains how the two lead characte...more

Foster isn’t on my list of favorites, but she’s a safe writer. With my husband being out of town a lot, safe is really important. Foster writes big, protective, possessive, alpha male heroes. They are always unbelievably handsome, rich, and perfect. The baddies in her books tend to act from afar and end up being a stalker, ex-boyfriend, or a jealous girl. They only show up at the end of the book for a brief two seconds before getting caught. Foster’s books are a bit formulaic in this way, but th...more

An interesting follow-up to Jude's Law. I'd been circling around this series on Booksfree and Paperbackswap and finally found the first book at the library and thought it was okay.
Ashley Mills is a strong-willed woman who left a patently dysfunctional home at an early age and is no putting herself through school while working two jobs. She has also attracted the attention of the wealthy Quinton Murphy to whom she is also attracted. But she doesn't want lust, she wants a life, with a degree and...more

Read Jude's Law first. This story starts days after that book ends.

Ashley is a take charge, take care of herself kind of gal. She works two jobs and is going to college to become a nurse. Quinton is silver spoon filthy rich and in control of everything around him. He has an office where Ashley works on the cleaning crew and they have bumped into each other on occeasion. OK, they have liplocked on occeasion too. They both feel the attraction, but Ashley is leary to to how rich he is. Ashley needs...more

Murphy’s Law by Lori Foster is a sexy and stunning contemporary romance that you won’t soon forget. This book is a nice, light read and it is highly entertaining!

Ashley Miles does not need another distraction in her life. Working two jobs, going to school and being maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding is about all she can handle at the moment. Yet Quinton Murphy walks into her life and stirs up all kinds of feelings. He’s successful, gorgeous and has all the right moves. Being the assertiv...more

I already read Jude's Law last year and I was happy to start this one. I liked the continuity of the story, we get to meet Jude and May while they're having their wedding. Coming to Quinton and Ashley, something didn't sit right with me. As unusual their characters are but they didn't feel like the 'it' couple. However, I liked some parts of them trying to work on their trust issues.

Another thing I felt unnecessary was Elton, the big bad, coming after Ashley. I just felt these two have their han...more

After reading Jude's Law, I was so excited to read this book and was not disappointed. Quinton & Ashley meet in the first book of the series (Jude's Law) and we see there is some chemistry between them but since that book is not about them we don't see too much of the story developing.

While this book is about them, we still get to see Jude, May, Denny, and the others we met in book 1. That's why I love a good series and especially Lori Foster series novels, because we get to have such a good...more

The followup to Jude's Law centers around May's best friend, Ashley Miles, who has fought long and hard to be independent and not count on anyone but herself. Her independence is threatened by the wealthy business owner she meets in the building she cleans. Both the immediate attraction between them and his desire to take care of her make her shy away, but when the danger from the previous book centers itself on Ashley, more than her independence is threatened. Wrapping up the loose ends from th...more

I thought I liked Jude's Law a lot, but I liked this one even better. I don't know if it was the chemistry between Quinton and Ashley or the finale of all the nonsense that started in the first book, but this one was fun, a little nerve racking and hilarious. Ashley was tough without alienating, naive without acting like an airhead, funny without seeming to try to hard. Quinton was pushy without being stalkerish, sweet but not gross and protective but not smothering. I was glad to see Denny, Jud...more

Usually I don't write bad reviews especially for fluffy novels like this where my expectations are already low. So absurd I couldn't even finish and I slogged through 50 Shades! How many single billionaires are running around out there. I must be missing something. Much better mindless romances out there than this book. It made me want to chuck my kindle out the window. I wish I could give less than one star.

This story was fun and thrilling all the the same time. There were some real laugh out load moments and some real edge of your seat moments too. This is a sexy tale with very likeable people Lori Foster knows how to spin a tale that will keep you hot an bothered and desperate to know what happens next.

it's been awhile since i read a Lori Foster novel. i forgot how fun and sensual her novels are. i loved this story about Ashley and Quinton. they had such a fun and cute relationship. i loved how Ashley was a little hard to get and how determined Quinton was at getting her. there was even a little suspense in this novel and it didn't overshadow the romance. i hate when that happens. i also loved the side characters. everyone was well developed and made the main characters just that much more fun...more

I sure enjoyed this book as much as the first. It was about Ashley, a secondary character from the first book. We got to know her and were briefly introduced to her love interest, Quinton Murphy, in Jude's Law. This book really was a continuation of the first in that it solves the mystery of the bombing and murders which Jude was accused (and acquitted) of.

A very touching love story with a really sweet HEA. An quick, easy read.

I LOVE the final scene before the epilogue! absolute favorite! one of my favorite scenes of all time in fact... i hated the bad guy... hes a creeper but i like quinton
ashley is a little more than a little hard headed and it bugs me sometimes but... Denny is amazing and loved following tim grow, even as far back as the last book... good over all

A good read if you're looking for something light and fun. But boy, be prepared for some steamy sexy scenes! Wow, Quinton is one hunk of man! And Ashley, sweet, virginal, yet spunky and self sufficient Ashley.

The plot was good, loved the romance, and there was some nice action/suspense added in there too.

(From first read 11/18/09) Let me start by saying I didn't read the first book in the series. I had no real connection to the whole sister's storyline. I liked the Ashley character but Quinton is just a bit too much if you know what I mean. Not bad overall, but not great either.

*New review*
I'm stuck between 3.5 and 4 stars. For now it gets the benefit of the doubt. Had you asked me 90% of the way through the book it would have been a solid four stars. But the last 25 pages are just so rushed and...more

The whole time I was reading Jude's Law, I tept wondering what was going between the lead's best friend and some guy who worked in her buiding. So I ran and got Murphy's Law from a used bookstore, but over all the story was 'a little bit' better than the first.
Andrea
The overall premise of the book was really good, I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between Ashley and Quinton unfold: particularly because it wasn't as cliche as other chicklits. However, I felt that the end was too corny and expected.

Now this is the Lori Foster I'm use to...I knew Ashley had the better story. I love her character. I love what's she's been through andhow she managed to come out tough as nails, but still able to love and beloved. This one was one of the good one!
Christine
Cute and easy to read. I think I missed a little bit with Ashley and Quinton's cute meet, since I'm assuming it was in the first book, but I actually liked that Lori Foster just dove right into their relationship. I might pick up some of her other books, should I come across them.

Live this book as much if not more than jude's law. Quinton is a good hearted, hot rich man and Ashley is a girl used to struggling and doing it on her own. Sparks fly when these 2 meet. Especially live when he bends her over the desk!
Alexandra Harkins
This was a great book, and a nice conclusion to the Elton Pascal tale! I found it a little hard to relate to Ashely's fashion style but overall her character was great and I especially loved Quintons character! Definitly a good book!
Amanda
Ashley had determine that she was going to reach her own goal.

Quinton had different idea in mind.

Combo of those -- its hiliarious to read how both of them interact with each other. Very good read!

I love Lori Foster's characters. They grab your interested right from the beginning. While her storylines can be contrived, I'm willing to let it go because I enjoy the characters so much.

This was an easy read. The characters are quirky and the storyline is refreshingly different but the romantic scenes are all that you would expect. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

More like 2.75. It was cute, but not the first book of this genre I'd recommend. Or even the 10th. Perhaps explained by the fact that the author apparently wrote more than 50 books in 10 years!
