Lori Wick is such a terrible writer that she actually turns the corner and becomes HILARIOUSLY AWESOME. My friend and I read her books together and then write parodies of them starring each other as the heroines. We have gained so many hours of mirth from this process that I really can bear no ill will towards Lori Wick, even if she will insist upon churning out books which contain less literary merit than a Mills & Boon penned by a 14-year-old.

I liked the story but thought it was so sad that as these characters "found Christ" they had to write off their family members who had passed away. It is such a blessing to know that not only can we have Christ in our life and develop a personal relationship with him but our departed loved ones can chose to accept this great gift even after they have passed on. No one need be lost! That IS good news!
I've been reading a lot of Christian fiction lately--they're some of the only books that I can trust for being clean! I read a few of the books by Lori Wick, including this one, and I have to say I'm not going to read any more, for several reasons: 1. She's really not that great of an author. Her characters are not believable and don't seem to fit or react to the situations in a beleivable way. 2. She states her beliefs in God in a way that make me very uncomfortable. I can see her having very l...more
Hmm. With a title containing the word chocolate, I thought I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did! To me it didn't really flow well... I thought it seemed to jump from one thing to another and I couldn't always follow what was going on smoothly. It started to get a little fluffy at the end as well, when they finally brought in Christianity. It felt like it was kind of added for the sake of adding it and didn't seem real or realistic. Maybe for some people, the decision to believe in God a...more
I had no idea when I started this book it was Christian Fiction. There was no indication on the book and I don't know the author. I did like the story - it was sad at times, but a little slow paced. You're taken through Arche's life from when she's 12 until she's 18, and it speeds up a bit until she's 22. It is a sweet tail of love and reconciliation, but I wouldn't say it was book that really kept me reading. I did like the characters and I didn't know it was Christian Fiction until towards the...more
This book is so bad that I did some research on the author to find out how in the world she managed to get published. I came to find out she's some sort of "Christian Fiction" writer. (I didn't even realize that was a genre.) I guess there aren't that many books out there where a central theme is the character's finding of faith, but that is no excuse for this book to exist. If anyone is interested in writing a book here's a genre that apparently needs some help! Normally, I have a difficult tim...more
I believe that it is so important to have a wide variety of literature available in a classroom because a classroom is so diverse with it's students. Just like I will have Harry Potter, or Twilight, I will also have Christian Literature available for my students. I want them to be able to have options and not feel pressured. Lori Wick is a wonderful author whose contemporary works are easy to relate to. White Chocolate Moments is a story of a young teenager who loses her parents and is taken in...more
This is contemporary fiction about a girl, Arcineh, whose parents died in an accident when she was 11 and was raised by her grandfather, Sam who was a wealthy owner of a company. She left when she was 18 because he took in her cousin and moved in with a friend, got several jobs, danced, and found romance and became a Christian and married. Issues it deals with are death, reconciliation and love. I liked it, especially the grandfather! It's a sweet story.
This book has a really corny title and the back cover does not give it credit either. The only reason I even got it was it was 10 cents at Salvation Army! Enough said, I actually really like the book, it was a quick read that kept me captivated. The only down part was towards the end when it started getting "churchy" not that I am not a churchy person but I believe what I believe and don't need to be preached to in a book. I would recommend it!
I loved this book! This book is set in the year 2004 I believe. So as you can imagine, much different than her books set in the 1800's. This book was much easier for me to relate to. I was happy it was not another one of those books where the boy and girl meet and get married the next day.
It was also fun to read a book set in Chicago. Living so close to the city, it was easy for me to visualize the places they went in the book.

A young Arcineh Bryant moves in with her wealthy grandfather after her parents suddenly die. Over the years Arcineh builds some resentments between her grandfater, aunt, and cousins. Due to some of her abandomnent issues, when she later meets the man of her dreams, she has some reservations.
This is the first book that I've read by Lori Wick. I love the main character Arcineh (not to mention the guy who falls for her) as she is such a sweet character inside and out. I enjoyed the story very much...more

It is a great novel, but I felt that the plot was lacking. It seemed to be made up of situations which quickly resolve itself neatly without the demonstration of the mending of walls. Quinn is in a bad marriage, has a child which she is soley responsible for and has become a christian. I would like to have seen more of her story: how did she become a christian?when and why? Who was she? Sadly those questions are answered rather than shown. Something more should have been mentioned about Grandma B...more
