Honestly, the description on this book sounded stupid..

I was in the library looking for books to read over Thanksgiving Break and I saw a few books by Lori Foster and picked a bunch up. This happened to be one of them.

I've read a few books by Foster and overall I really like what she writes. Despite the contrived sounding back cover, the book ended up being funny.

The main character "Havoc" otherwise known as Dean, is a fighther with the SBC organization. He gets a letter from his sister that h...more

This was ok... I've read The Men Who Walk the Edge of Honour series and I wasn't super taken with them either. There's just something about Foster's characters and storylines that I don't particularly dig. To me a lot of the characters, the men especially, seem one-demensional and her plots are unrealistic.

At first this read too much like a Cinderella story, with the evil aunt squandering the Conor sisters' inhertiance, while the oldest sister works hard to keep everything afloat. After receivin...more

the synopsis
Lori Foster brings her signature strengths -- great humor, engaging characters, and sizzling passion -- to this contemporary love story and family drama. It centers around extreme fighter Dean "Havoc" Connor, a self-reliant, rolling-stone kind of guy, whose world turns upside down with one letter from his sister, Cam. He hasn't seen her since he was eight, when their parents were killed in a car crash; he was dispatched to live with his...more

When I picked up this book, I expected to read a romance, and in a way, that's what this was, but when it came time to review I realized that, as a romance, I couldn't give it more than about 2 stars. And that's not fair, because I liked the book. So instead, I'll call it a mainstream fiction novel focusing on family and relationships. That story, I enjoyed.

Dean "Havoc" Connor is an extreme fighter who has had a tough life. His parents died when he was 9, and he spent the rest of his childhood...more

This book was a little disappointing and did not quite live up to my expectations.

Dean “Havoc” Conor lost his parents when he was 9 years old and his uncle took him away from his home and his younger sisters because his Aunt Lorna wanted it this way. In this time Dean has become a prize fighter and is very good at his chosen career.

Move forward 20 years when Dean receives a letter from his sister Camille asking him to come home to Harmony as she wants to meet him. He goes, not knowing what to ex...more

The story was too ordinary and sweet for me. It was not entertaining enough. I prefer wittier dialogue and unexpected actions.

All the main characters are likeable and nice to each other. Couples fall in love at first sight. There are a couple of "bad guys" who cause conflict. I do not recommend it because there was nothing creative or unusual about it. I wasn't surprised or delighted. The book reminded me of normal conversations and actions of people living in a small town. I would have preferre...more

I read it in a few hours. It was not as good as the first SBC book I read by Lori Foster but it was decent. I actually wanted to read more about the secondary characters, Jacki and Gregor but they weren't mention much. I should see if she wrote a book on their relationship. It is sexy but she has written much better. I didn't go to sleep until it was all read so I was hooked. It only gets the three stars because I have read better work from this author.

Alpha male? Strong females? Villain you can't stand? YUP this book has all three and more!

Dean, aka Havoc, is our Alpha male of this story and he sucked me in right from the beginning. He gets a letter from his sister that he hasn't seen in 20 years, but he goes to find out what she wanted. Will he become protective of his sisters when he doesn't want to?

Cam is one of Dean's sisters and the one who wrote the letter. I have mixed feelings about Cam. She is a mixture of weak and strong, but I co...more

Dean "Havoc" Conor is an extreme fighter. Orphaned at a young age, he spent his youth traveling the world doing construction with his uncle. It was an okay life except that he had to leave behind his two young sisters with the aunt who didn't want him.
But now his sister has sent him a letter, inviting him home. The older sister is involved with a man who doesn't seem to have her best interests at heart. The younger sister is a wild child who may have to drop out of school because the family cof...more

Dean grew up without knowing his sisters. After his parents died, his aunt would only assume responsibility for the girls, and not Dean. He received a letter from one sister begging him to come home. Once home, Dean finds his sisters in a financial crisis.

Dean is a strong character with a good bit of depth. He struggles with coming to terms with the betrayal in his youth, getting to know his estranged siblings, and assuming familial responsibilities. The one thing he doesn’t struggle with is hi...more

What I liked about this one was that it was about a different sport, one that Lori Foster respects the hell out of and is well versed in. These men didn't feel like cut outs or dreamy but rather rough around the edges, disciplined fighter. Super sexy chemistry and a surprisingly sweet story between the lead, Dean, and his two sisters. Eve was a perfect math for the contained man, and her accent rolled off the tongue like molasses. Jacki and Gregor together were a bonus, a really fantastic second...more

I had given these book 2 attempts before I actually started reading it. Romance novel are suppose to be dreamy and fantasiful but sometimes with Lori Foster (I was on a binge and noticed) her men are too good to be true. All of them are no shorter then 6'5ft, dripping sexy appeal, and are amazing handy men/fighters. Honestly the only big differences from her books are the female leads. So when I once again got a macho male I just couldn't take it... but I’m glad I did end up giving this book a 2...more

I ended up liking this one a lot more than I thought I would. I don't know why I had some reservations about Lori Foster and thought I wouldn't really like her books. I picked this one up for a challenge and I'm very glad I did. Dean (Havoc) absolutely makes this book. And it's really more of his story and how he reconnects with his sisters anyway. I didn't dislike Eve but I felt like I never really got to know her as her own person. They had a lot of chemistry but she never came alive as a char...more

I took this on a trip, not realizing I had read it before, but enjoyed it just as much the second time. Although I am not into Mixed Martial Arts and do not think I would find these large men sexy myself, I do enjoy the series. Dean is a complex, emotionally stunted man, who finally comes to understand his family. I liked the unravelling of his emotions. I now will find the other books and reread or read for the 1st time the rest of the series. This is a contemporary, which I don't usually read,...more

Really enjoyed Dean as a hero, and I loved Jacki and Gregor's relationship... Looking forwards to reading Simon's story! 4.5 stars

Okay, this should almost get 5 stars, but I felt so cheated at the end because I didn't get an 'ending' with the secondary story of Jacki and Gregor. And it was heating up to be a HOT story. That sex scene deserved to be in here and I'm ticked it's not! So that got it bumped down to four stars. This is a hot book with hot hot hot men and I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. I loves me some big strong men.

As a side note, I really like Lori Foster's and I'm sort of surpri...more

I thought I'd never read another Lori Foster book after the last one, but I picked this up this morning and got hooked. Dean aka Havoc is an SBC fighter who gets a letter from one of his long-lost sisters and goes home for a visit and to get to know his sisters again. It was fascinating seeing this guy try so hard to remain detached from his sisters, but getting sucked in to the family dynamic anyway. I think the reason I enjoyed the story so much is that it was mostly from Dean's pov. I loved t...more

Okay, darn it! Sucked into a series now. This was a good one and I didn't want it to end, mostly because of the sub-story romances, I wanted to see how those would unfold. PLEASE tell me Simon is the main character in one of the others of this series. However, I digress from my original review of this book. Havoc was HOT. I don't think there can be a more perfect male specimen out there. I enjoyed the plot of the book (him hooking up with his two sisters after haven't seen them since he was 9 ye...more

Having read the third in the series first, I backed up to read the first. This one did a good job of explaining MMA and some of its moves but again the sex was too easy and you begin to wonder if anyone who fights knows the meaning of the words "discriminating tastes". So with this one I started skipping the sex scenes, except for any dialogue that might be there, to see if there was anything left of the book. Fortunately there was, although there were too many relationships going on, and I most...more

I purposely avoided this series because I just wasn't interested in a fighter series. Kicking myself now for not reading them sooner. Lori never fails to pull me in and hold my interest. I had a hard time though with Dean being so cold and uncaring towards his sisters in the beginning and I felt like Gregor and Jacki hit it off way to quickly...I guess it could happen. As Lori has stated, she writes what her characters tell her to...I guess Cam and Roger kept their relationship very private. I t...more

Havoc is a fighter, he's a champion rarely does he loose, not even his temper. He makes things look easy, girls are throwing themselves at him on a consistent basis but he only takes what he needs and moves on. He doesn't do emotion, life's way easier without it.

After a champion fight he awakens the next morning and wanders out to find a cute little blond cooking, trouble is he doesn't know her name. After a few moments he finds out she followed him home the night before, she got his mail and sh...more

The subject was different than what I've read before...SBC Fighters. But it was a fairly good book, I liked the characters, especially Dean who even though he's a big man is very gentle. I liked his sister Jacki also. It's about 3 siblings who after the death of their parents when they are young are separated. Dean goes to live with an uncle and he's old enough to remember his sisters. Cam and Jacki are very young remain in the family home with an aunt. He remembers the girls but they don't reme...more

I was surprised by how much I liked this one because I am not a fan of this type of fighting and I wasn't sure how much it would play into the storyline. It was negligible, just their profession. What it did bring to the table was some very alpha type men, which is always fun.

Dean didn't seem like the typical fighter or even pro athlete, usually their sport defines them. With Dean he seemed to not want to define by anything. I loved how the letter from his sister threw him off and caused instant...more

From the start Causing Havoc had me hooked on the SBC Fighters series. So far I've read the first four books in the series and loved all of them! Causing Havoc starts out the series introducing you to Dean "Havoc" Conor, an SBC Fighter who returns to the hometown of his childhood after being orphaned at a young age.

Dean returns to meet his long lost sisters, sisters that for many years never knew he existed. So, right away the story has a dramatic opening. Havoc is a tough guy, not one to show...more

Never thought I would like a book about professional fighters, but I loved this one, read it three times in four years, marked it as a favorite, and put it on my keeper shelf. Only bought it because Lori Foster is one of my favorites and she is always an author I can count on. (It was not too melodramatic for me as I had a long lost younger brother who spent his childhood in Foster care – whereas I was adopted into a loving home - and looked me up decades later.) LF did a convincing job of sibli...more

Something kept me reading this book, page after... sometimes entertaining, sometimes so boring I died a little... So I still gave it three stars, merits for being finished I guess (and followed casue I confess I red book 2). Thing that bugged me(mora like petpeeved me) to no end was the "by rote" idiom, yanking me out of the story each time my eyes got a hold of it... I googled it and was like.... common!!!!!! there is reason no body uses it. Its cheesy and I would say "caustic".

When a letter from his long-lost sister reaches extreme fighter Dean "Havoc" Conor, he decides to take a vacation to see the sisters he was torn away from at nine years old. He quickly discovers more than he bargained for: a family that quickly causes him to play the "big brother" role he says he despises, a woman he cannot walk away from, and a mystery that may cost him either his life or his love.

A great, funny, suspenseful romantic story from one of my favorite romance authors!

Another great read in Foster's SBC Fighter series. Dean was an amazingly well developed hero, more so than you see in a lot of romantic fiction since the focus is usually placed on the heroine. I loved the insight you got into both characters and their interactions/dynamics were cute & fun to read. Two other couples were also somewhat woven into the threads and while this usually annoys me, I enjoyed at least one of the other couples. Another win for Foster.

Causing Havoc was a nice read. Especially for those of us who are MMA fight fans. The main male character is a fighter that comes home to two sisters he's never really known. The interaction was wonderfully written and the turbulent emotions surrounding such a reunion were palatable.

My only real complaint with the story is that the main female character was too perfect. She had the hair, the body, the clothes, the house, the job, the money, no emotional hangups, nothing that most everyday wome...more

“His jaw locked. "You don't know shit about me."

She put her hands at either side of his face and smiled with too much emotion. "You want to know what I think?"

For some reason, tension pulled at him. "Probably some idiotic romanticized nonsense." When her confidence didn't falter, he made a sound of disgust. "All right, go ahead and tell me."

“She stared up at him and for an instant his expression went soft all over her before he turned away, gritting his teeth.

Dean felt her gentle touch everywhere, in places he'd never thought about before.
