Charlie and Amber meet in an unusual way. They play games on-line and know each other by their gaming names. While they have never actually met, they do share things about themselves to each other when playing games.

Amber is a hacker who has gotten into trouble doing it so she decides to go straight and stop hacking. She is doing great with this plan until a friend asks her to hack into a gaming site for him so he can tell the company where the problems are then fix them. Amber agrees to help he

I would love to rate more stars but I just really hate the heroine character. 3.5 stars is best I can give for the ARC (given by netgalley for an honest review).
The story start with an avatar gameworld btw the 'Black Pirate' aka Charlie, an US Navy SEAL communication expert with 'Hot Girl' aka Amber Fitz, a former hacker. Even in gameworld, sparks blew btw them, made Charlie ask her out. An urgent ops leaving Amber in the dark and the pirate now missed his chance. Across the world, Amber moved

I was given the opportunity to request a copy of this book through another author that I regularly read and review. She recommended I give this book a try and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I also didn't realize that I'd already read the first book in this series a while ago and really enjoyed it. I didn't know that it was part of a series so was very pleasantly surprised when I began reading and the characters seemed a bit familiar. Now that I've read this one I can say that I will be ...more

This is the second in a series, and I’ve not read the first. I do think they’re best read in order, because all the characters from the last book are back in this one and they play a big part in the plot.

Romantic suspense has taken a pretty extreme turn recently. From an entertainment perspective, it’s great fun because the action is constant and it’s a real adventure. I was getting sick of all the books where everyone sat around agonising over their feelings!

However, this new style of book is a

If you are looking to experience intrigue heightened to
mountains proportions with a bit of romance plus a heaping
dose of danger then “Lock and Load” is the book for you.
Besides the intrigue, it is a well plotted book. There are vivid
characters, plenty of mystery, edge, drama, murder, suspense
and even humor.
It is a compulsive page turner. You will be taken into a ton of
action starting with computer gaming to computer hacking
leading into real life and death situations.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I wasn't sure how much I would like it, as I did not enjoy the first book in this series AT ALL, but I really loves this book. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of five was because Jenna was in it again. I think she might be the worst character I've come across in any book I've read in recent memory, and I read quite a bit.

I was excited to learn that this book was about one of the two Handley brothers from the the Seal EXtreme Team. Charli

I am a fan of romantic suspense. So I had high hopes for Lock and Load by Kimberly Troutte. The foundation of the story line has a great premise. Amber is a hacker trying to go straight. Charlie, a Navy SEAL, has down time, has bedded plenty of women and is very much into video games. The two main characters "meet" via an online game but only know each other via their screen names but feel a connection.

As the story progresses, I liked t

Great book, couldn’t put it down.

This is the first book I’ve read by Kimberly Troutte and what a great book! This had everything I look for in romantic suspense: tension between the H and h, mystery, suspense, adventure, hot guys (SEALs!), danger and a story that kept me on the edge of my seat until I finished reading it.

Although this book is part of a series (connected characters but each story stands alone) you don’t need to have read the first book to know what’s going on in this one. I haven

I haven't read the first book in the series yet, and while there are several references to events that occurred in that book, you will easily be able to follow Lock and Load. The word EXtreme and some of the blurb may lead one to think that this is on the border of erotic romantic suspense (plus it starts out with a reference of two brothers having a menage), but there's only one average sex scene in the story.

The story focuses on Charlie and Amber and for such a short book we get to know both q

Kimberley Troutte drew me into "Lock and Load" from the start and I couldn't put it down. I love romance books, love military romance, and now I'm loving military romantic suspense thanks to this talented author.

Lock and Load by Kimberley Troutte is the second book in her SEAL EXtreme Team series. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone without any confusion. I have to say that I did love this book in so many ways.

I was pretty entertained by this story on a few levels. Firstly, it's a Seals action story and I've yet to read a Seals story that didn't keep me on my toes. Secondly, I was surprised to read Cantonese words. I think this is my second book to date that has Cantonese/Chinese in it. Being an Asian myself, it felt warm to be able to relate to aspects of the story. I understand Cantonese and I would like to commend the author for the accuracy of those words used. Thirdly, I think it was a pretty ...more

This book was an action pack adventure from the beginning. Charlie and Amber were online gaming friends, meeting in person when Amber gets caught up in a scandal to steal national secrets. From there we're taken on a wild ride through China as they, along with Charlie's SEAL team, try to stay alive and figure out who's behind the security breach.

I loved Charlie and Amber together. I also liked the way the rest of the team interacted with each other. And while Charlie's brother, Willy, came acros

This was one Seal book that was hot from the start. Charlie is cooling his heals after screwing up and he is starting to get a little itchy for some action. The one thing that highlights his time is the girl that can kick arse better than he can in the virtual world.

Amber finds herself in trouble far from home in China. She thought she that she was going to get the job of a lifetime in China only to find out it’s not that easy. Being an exceptional hacker has led her to being setup and now she

Romantic suspense from a new to me author. I enjoyed the setup and the basic plot. The initial online interaction between Amber and Charlie was fun and flirty. Once the plot progressed, the rest of the Navy SEAL team came into play and the action was off and running. This was book two in the series, with most of the same characters, and although I have not read book one, I was able to pick up the relationships without trouble. Amber was tough to like. For being portrayed as a brilliant hacker, ...more

This is my first time reading Kimberley Troutte's books and I have to say that I'm not disappointed! Loved the suspense and romance between the main characters and I really enjoyed the 'realness' of the situations in the book.

I wasn't expecting to be just engrossed in this book as I was in the first book in the series. What I found was that I was taking off from where the first book ended. Suspense, drama, laughter, love, five very alpha SEALS, and two independent females. What is not to love. All of the same characters that were established in the first.
