Lady Grace is pulled once more into her role as a lady pursuvient to clear Ellie's name in the theft of the jewel of a royal exile residing in the court of her majesty Queen Elizabeth. I would say this is a bit weaker than the others mostly because the exiled princess feels like a compilation of someone that could be from central Asia, India or Africa. The series often strives to bring some authenticity to the story but this one feels just stretched. That said, my nine-year-old loved the story More...

Lady Grace is a Maid of Honour to Queen Elizabeth I but she is also more – she is her Lady Pursuivant or a person who seeks out wrongdoers. When the crown jewel is stolen from Banoo Yasmine of Sharakand who is in exile from her homeland after a coup, Lady Grace must find the thief. This book represents the life of women in the English court of 1570 complete with a glossary and the historical milieu at the end of the book.

While this is certainly just 'easy reading' for young girls, it gives the reader (me, in this case) a view into court life in Elizabethan England which I've never known. 2/3rds of the things this book is describing are completely new to me! Young-adult fiction or not, it is an education!

A juvenile mystery set in Queen Elizabeth's court. The ruby of the visiting princess is missing and the lowly laundry maid is accused of taking it. Lady Grace looks to the real thief.

Another Lady Grace, I thought this one was an interesting and exciting plot. I wasn't sure who it was until near the end of the book.

Lady Grace encounters a panther and it's owner Banoo Yasmine who has a ruby of great beauty. Banoo Yasmine is seeking asylum and offers the ruby as surety, when it is stolen, one of Grace's friends is blamed.

I had my suspicions but some of them turned out to be untrue. Fun read, light and not too involved. It's starting to lose some of it's earlier spark but still enjoyable.

All the royal court is curious about the new visitor to court, the Banoo Yasmine visiting from the middle east. Grace is curious about her companion, an elegant black panther. But mystery is not to be left far behind when the Banoo's Ruby is stolen and found in Ellie's Laundry Basket. Can Grace not only find the culprit but save her friend from a thief's fate?

Lady Cavendish has a personal stake in this mystery...one of her close friends, Ellie, the laundry girl, has been accused of stealing a valuable ruby from royalty that has settled into the court. What makes this more interesting is that this royal figure is exiled from a muslim Middle Eastern country and she has brought a live panther with her.
