Nearly-perfect LDS wife and mother Carrie is in deep despair, but she doesn’t know what’s wrong. Neither do her nearly-perfect husband, Morgan, or her teenage daughters, Jane and Miranda. Though it stuns family and friends, Carrie decides she needs a leave of absence from her marriage—not a divorce or separation; she doesn’t doubt her love for Morgan, nor his love for her. It’s herself she doubts, and she hopes desperately that this “timeout” will provide her with the insight and inspiration she ...more

I was honestly a little hesitant to read an LDS Fiction novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found myself thinking about it all the time and I had a hard time putting it down. I think it is a valuable read for mature teenagers and older, but I think that married women are probably the key audience. I was impressed with how compelling this book was. You really feel for these characters!

This book touches on the sensitive issue of teen sex and pregnancy, but does so in a very respectful way. And I LOVED that the parents were the ones to teach their children...very well written.

It also touches on separation and divorce and shows that parents are not perfect and sometimes struggle too!

A beautiful book of forgiving, trying one's best, and learning along the way.
I will definitely read more from t

What a realistic look at what unresolved past mistakes can come back and make future progression and joy out of the question.
The atonement makes all mistakes forgivable sometimes the hardest step is forgiving ourselves of being less than perfect.
Loved the characters, the journey Carrie goes through to move past wrong choices and forgive herself and the one who did the wrong to her.

This is a great book. Very thought provoking..and not a mindless romance. Great read....especially for LDS readers. I am not a huge fan of most LDS novels..but this one is not typical!
