Houston,we have a problem!

Phineas L. MacGuire (a.k.a. Mac) is less than up-to-date on planetary happenings. (Marsquakes? Who knew?) If he's going to be the best scientist in the fourth grade, Mac has to set his sights pretty high. To outer space, actually. But Space Camp is expensive. Where is he going to find enough money for a week on Mars (or a pretty close simulation t...more

Suddenly, astronomy becomes very important to Mac--so important that when he hears there is a Space Camp, attendance becomes his new goal.

Space Camp and the airplane tickets to get there aren't an expense his mom and stepfather Lyle volunteer to fund, so Mac takes matters...more

This is the first of the Phineas L. MacGuire books that I have read, but it won't be the last! I laughed out loud in many places in this book. I can't wait to use this book with my after school book group. I think the kids will enjoy it.

Francis O'Roark Dowell is a master of getting into the heads of 9 year olds. Loved the slobber experiments and how Phineas and his friends worked together to get him to Space Camp.

My son read this. Parts of it he read out loud to me. It seems like a pretty good story for a kid who likes both science and dogs!

Great read for those who are past Franny K.Stein books.
Mac is in grade 4. Loves science. Likable character. Boys would enjoy. Girls too!
