Tim Diamond runs the world’s worst private detective agency along with his long suffering little brother Nick. They’re down to their last few pence and the gas is about to be cut off when Johnny Naples walks into their lives. He leaves them with a small package which could lead to three and a half million pounds and the end of their money problems, trouble is every big time crook in London is after it too.
I am a big fan of Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammett and I loved the comical take on the...more

This book was really amazing just like all the other diamond brother books. It's about these to people one is 13-14 years old and the other was in his 20's, it wasn't any clearer than "my older idiot brother in his 20's as a private detective". Anyways it is about them and the younger one is named Nick Diamond i would say he is the main charicter and his older brother Tim Diamond....He is the idiot.....Well anyways the biggest criminal in the world, The Falcon, dies and leaves a huge fortune beh...more

I want to rate this 3.5 stars, and had a very hard time deciding between 3 & 4, finally went with 3.

I have again been researching some books for my 13 y/o to read, and since he has been doing some deep stuff (Flowers for Algernon) and auto biographies and classic literature...I want to help him find some good light/fun reading as well. Found about 5 teen fiction authors he might like (he is not big on fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian/paranormal), he enjoys teen mystery crime fiction and it seems har...more

Since I often read a lot of historical fiction or books that have a deep message or moral, I decided to try out a different genre. The Falcon’s Malteser,a mystery fiction novel, was a delightful read. The book centers around two brothers, Nick and Herbert Diamond, who own a secret detective business in England. Herbert, 25, is not very bright, and started the detective business because he was excused from being a police officer after doing such a terrible job. His younger brother, Nick, is only...more

I just finished reading The Falcon's Malteser. I liked this book. One reason i liked this book was because it had me thinking about whats going to happen next, and it was also love in this book to. On page 67 Luaren was telling Nick about Johny Naples love life. Then Nick found out all about the malteser's, and found out that was a key to 5 million dollars. On page 190 nick found out Luaren never went to the Fulham Brodway station, instead she coppied the bar code on purpose and she had the dia...more

This book was great and like none other! When you first start reading the book you get backround information on Tim, the untrained rookie policeman. He is so exited that he is finally a policeman, but after not being prepared and being a slow officer, he gets fired. He goes and tells his brother Nick, and his brother Nick starts training him. After treining him for a while, they both get invited to an investagation involving Malsters. (Diamonds) They incounter a dwarf, a which, a fat man, Snape,...more

1) I enjoyed th book The Falcon's Malteser because the author describes the story like he is in the book. For example he is the character Nick in the scene when he tied up by two insane people. Nick says " I won't make it to my 14th birthday". He explains everything in the specific matter and gives real world examples to the book.

2) You would like this book if you like a good mystery , very exciting action and good suspense. I say this because Nick's brother Tim is in jail and Nick is all alone...more

This is a book about two brothers that are living by themselves after sneaking away from their parents. The older brother is a private detective... (but hes kind of a joke). the younger brother still goes to school but sometimes comes home to find out that his brother has a case. (he knows that his brother can solve a case all by himself.) The younger brother has to help his brother solve a case at first they have no idea about. It takes them a long time and a lot of thinking. But 4 out of 5 bec...more

The clever title will be lost on most kids unless they are seasoned noir fans, but the humor and respectable level of suspense will not be. Nick's older brother Herbert is so dimwitted he was fired from the police force, but nevertheless opens his own private detective agency and changes his name to Tim Diamond. Luckily Herbert has his bright younger brother to look out for him, and it's Nick who ends up solving the mystery of Johnny Naples, a box of Maltesers candy, and an empty tomb. Overall,...more

The Falcon’s Malteser, written by one of the most famous children’s authors: Anthony Horowitz, is based in Fulham England. If you love reading action-packed mysteries with a bit of humor, this is the perfect book for you. Tim Diamond is probably one of the worst detectives the world has ever seen Luckily, he has his thirteen-year old brother around to help him out, Nick Diamond. After their parents moved to Australia recently, the two brothers have gotten in tons of trouble that could even get t...more

Anthony Horowitz’s The Falcon’s Maltaser thrilled me with its fast moving plot and thrilling scenes. In this book two brothers Nick and Tim find themselves the job of holding on to a simple package that turns out to be a big surprise to them. I found this book to be very well written. The plot seemed to just take you in with it.
The main characters in The Falcon’s Malteser are two brothers Nick and Tim Diamond. Nick is a thirteen year old boy who leaves with his older brother Tim who gets him s...more

I read this because I loved Foyle's War from Masterpiece Theater and I didn't know that Anthony Horowitz had written mysteries for children. Also, I have read the Maltese Falcon and enjoyed it. I did like this book, especially the humor, and thought it was a good spoof on the Maltese Falcon. I don't know that I would want my daughter reading it yet. It seems a little mature for her, with all the corpses, maybe she should read Nancy Drew first. But she'd only nine right now, and she'd probably en...more

The Falcon's Malteser by Anthony Horowitz is about Nick, a bright thirteen year old, and his older brother Tim Diamond, a struggling private eye. One day, as their money is almost gone, a vertically challenged person comes to them with a request, to keep a package for a week, for one thousand dollars. The dwarf is killed, and now Nick and Tim must find out the secret of the dwarf.

The Falcon's Malteser is the first book in a series of three books. I would recommend this book to fans of the Alex...more

**Spoilers**

When I selected my book I was very confused after seeing the cover. What does maltesers (An English chocolate) have to do with diamonds and blood? I was intrigued right a way. I thought I would be a book devoted to the mystery genre, which I am not very keen on, but having read a few of Antony Horowitz`s book I thought it would included action and suspense which he is known for. After finishing the book I can now say that my first impressions of the book were correct, this is not on...more

I read 12 other books by Anthony Horowitz before this, and was never disappointed. I'm very glad to say, I still haven't been disappointed.

The Falcon's Malteser is an excellent mid-grade read, that really reads more like a YA. Nick was a great narrator and just a good character. He was witty and clever, though a little mean at times. His brother Tim (real name Herbert) was hilariously stupid. They were very amusing to read about.

This book is full of villains, but I'm afraid only two of them were...more

This book is fiction and it is about two brothers getting mixed up in a world of criminals and money. The book starts off talking about the history of the brothers. Nick Simple who is the main character is forced to love in Australia by his parents, but when the plane was leaving London Nick snuck off it. He went to stay with his brother Herbert who likes his pseudonym Tim Diamond. Herbert is a private detective and a really bad one, and they do not have much money. One day a dwarf walked into t...more

The Falcon's Malteser was a great book and very enjoyable. I really liked it. It had good plot and it was full of suspense. You will never guess what would happen in the end. It was that good. The Falcon's Malteser fitted in brilliantly with my type of genre.

If you've never read this book before, I recommend you read it. The Diamond brothers story is about two brothers Nick and Tim Diamond. Tim Diamond's the world's worst private detective but his brother Nick is very clever and quick thinking.

This mystery book became one of my favorite books once I read the first chapter. Once you catch it with your hands, you won’t put it down until you find out what will happen. That’s what happened to me. I decided to read two chapters each day, but I didn’t read two, I read three! It grabbed my attention and pushed me to read more and more to find out what will happen to Herbert and his brother. I advice EVERYONE to read this incredible book.

Nick is the 13 year old brother of Tim Diamond, London's worst private detective. The heat is shut off just as a dwarf appears with $1500 to hold a mysterious package for a week. But then the dwarf winds up dead, Tim is in jail under susipicion, and Nick is left to wade through the murky underworld searching for 5 million dollars worth of diamonds.

This book is for people who like action and mystery. This book is very hard to put down, I wanted to read this book in one go. The book features two main characters, the diamond brothers. The brothers embark on an adventure as private detectives to solve a problem. The story goes on to portray the events of how the brothers solve the mystery.

The Book is about a box of maltesers and how it holds the key to 3 and a half million pounds. The worlds most wanted criminals are after it but it falls into the hands of a private detective and his younger brother. The key to safe which contains the 3 and a half million pounds is not in the form of a normal key, but in many clues all around.

Fans of Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider series or of action/adventure novels in general will enjoy this detective novel. Horowitz's humor keeps the book light, but with plenty of action and intrigue to keep the reader engaged through the whole book. Another great series starter for boys, especially junior-highers.

Read this on the recommendation of my fourteen-year-old son, and for once, I can't fault his taste. Very deliberately Chandler-esque, the spoof young detective enjoys a charmed life, a good deal of sarcasm and plenty of word play as he seeks out the mystery behind a £3.5 million haul of diamonds. Written in a breezy, knowing style, this is very enjoyable.

The dimond brothers books are hylarious and action packed. I fell in love with the books. It's about two brothers who are private detectives. They get themselves into a whole lot of trouble.
It's action packed, funny and a graet mystery with a totay unpredictable ending.

Good fast paced mystery with a good amount of action. This book feels like a longer story than just 200 pages so thats good. Im also reading Anthony Horowitzes Ravens Gate and liking it. The Alex Rider series was great so im happy this book was good too.

the falcons malteser was a exciting book with action and guns and all this action was over a pack of maltesers that was like a map to a special hidden treasure and a small private detective got brought into the mayhem of all the guns and action !

I very much enjoyed this pint-size take on the old hard boiled, Raymond Chandler-type mystery. It was somehow more appealing than Bruce Hale's Chet Gecko. Kids will enjoy it - especially the fact that the Diamond brothers, living without parents, can tackle anything themselves, including murder, kidnapping, even explosions - but they might not get every subtle pun that would have an older reader snickering.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T RATED THIS YET! one of my first book series and by far the funniest shit I've ever read, a perfect dose of unintelligent and stupid humor, perfect for my 5th grader self. 10/10. would read again.

This was a fun read. I love Anthony Horowitz. I enjoyed all the play on words and the names of characters, etc. Typical AH with a teen protagonist. Also written in the 1st person POV which worked well with the humour.
