A harrowing week in the life of an uptight man verging on middle age, this book is a fairy tale for lonely cowboys.

I enjoyed the book, a novella really, as it seemed way too short to be considered anything else. The protagonist and his family problem is relatively easy to understand without much background, though I would have liked more. But Frank, to me anyway, was completely unbelievable. For a moment or two I thought I was reading a run-of-the mill romance book.

It was quick. It was easy. But I felt the themes addressed needed more time, more story.

But I would recommend it for a quick read.

A crisp, totally immersed reading experience, "Dead Rock Stars" is a modern classic for a reason. Funk has an uncanny knack of transporting the reader into his head with a stunning economy of words. I barreled through this little delight in three sittings. The characters are unforgettable and become indelibly stamped in your consciousness long after you read the last page.
