This collection is a combination of the history of the Kirby/Simon romance comics from the early days of American comics in the 1930s and beyond and a collection of the comics themselves. The front matter, explaining the origin of the comics and how they became so popular, is interesting and makes reading the comics themselves that much more entertaining.

It is difficult to create a good romance comic. Well, the genre is limited, isn’t it? Either the couple finds love or they fall apart. They are not going to fall apart very often, so there really is only one place for the story to go, making the endings predictable.
