This book reminded me of The Three Musketeers albeit with heroines rather than heroes.

We are reintroduced to Flick as she struggles to come to terms with the aftermath of having been released from prison .The death of her brother is on her conscience as is the loss of her home and remaining family members, so begins her heartfelt quest and as she is reunited with prior acquaintances we find allegiances challenged and loyalties divided.

Action abounds in this swashbuckling tale, the story is well

Hunted: Flick Carter #2by Tim Arnot

Hunted is the brilliant second novel in the Flick Carter series. After the traumatic events that concluded the first novel: Wanted, Flick is struggling to come to grips with her life, weighed down by guilt. Finding peace in the bottom of a bottle, Flick causes ructions in her home town. It isn’t long before things come to a head, and friendships become strained.
Clinging to her only ray of hope, Flick finds herself searching for clues to the whereabouts of her

The second instalment in this gripping series gets off to an explosive start, and just keeps going up from there.

Flick Carter has found herself alone after becoming an alcoholic following the events of Wanted. She also appears to be the target of an assassin, working for an unknown cause. In a post-apocalyptical world where the punishment for every crime is murder, who can she trust?

This second part of Tim Arnot's Flick Carter series is an exciting ride. Flick is pursued by a black-clad figure seemingly out to assassinate her. She hears him enquiring after the Carters. Later she finds that friends of hers have been killed by this man she calls Black Ghost. She is forced to make a bargain with Princess Jessica which results in her erstwhile boyfriend Shea running away from her in disgust.

I enjoyed the pace of the story and meeting characters I liked from the previous book.

Great second installment following Flick Carter's search for her missing, presumed dead, family through a post-technological collapse Oxfordshire and Bristol. Nice use of real buildings (Blenheim Palace, various Oxford landmarks) for anyone local to the areas, and lots of tense action and fun Kingsman training montages. Can't wait for the next one!

It's unusual to enjoy a second book more than the first but that was most definitely the case in this instance.
I loved Flick from the outset, but this book just made her more real, more gritty and also human. I eagerly await Flick 3.

This is the second in the Felicity (Flick) Carter series of books, set in a post-apocalypse England where there's no technology, and martial rule keeps most people in order.

Even though she's very young, Flick has been using alcohol to drown her sorrows about losing her home, her family and her friends. She's kicked out of her village and ends up becoming a trainee in the Kingsmen. A lot of this book is her during her enforced training. I wasn't too interested in this bit,

The Sword and Laser: Get Hunted for a buck! 28 230 Apr 25, 2015 12:45AM
Tim Arnot claims to remember the Sixties, although that almost certainly means he wasn't there. In his defence though, he does claim to have been very small. He had a college education from which he spectacularly failed to get any qualifications at all. But that didn't stop him from going on to be a successful writer of programs for computers and apps for iThings (if you buy a train ticket in the ...more
