This book was okay. Kind of predictable and I really couldn't get to excited about the main character. She just kept doing stupid stuff. Like hiring high priced lawyers and then completely ignoring there advice. I probably won't read this author again.

I owe J.A. Jance a huge debt of gratitude. She invented the word "escapism." For twenty years, I've read her books in the dentist's office, hospital waiting rooms, and the corridor of the local courthouse, as well as in bed and on the beach. Her novels are always a welcome distraction from the stresses of "real" life and smooth enough to read even in a state of high anxiety.

This is Jance’s second Ali Reynolds thriller. The first, EDGE OF EVIL, hooked me on the series. This second has ended that relationship. The blogging part of the book was cool, but the character was a bit on the side of little good two-shoes for me to enjoy. The mystery in itself was good and I didn’t figure out until halfway through.
What can’t be taken away from the book’s quality was the fact the characters were well defined. This is an art form Jance has perfected. The plot was in...more

Broke my rule about reading books with female protaganists. Lady keeps a blog about her impending divorce bad-mouthing the future ex. When she gets to the courthouse to finalize the divorce turns out the future ex is now a dead future ex. The the future wife turns up dead. Add her mother to the death tally along with the future wife's boyfriend. Of course our "hero" is a suspect in all cases. She does everything wrong, disregards orders from cops and attorneys. A mediocre read at best....more

What I read on my vacation part one. And what better way to begin a trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon from Southern California than with this series by Jance about a Los Angeles/Sedona gal who keeps zipping back and forth across the desert country I love while she solves murder cases and finds self-esteem. This is the second one because it what was in the bookstore, so I read it first, and read the first one second, which was another good thing to do at the beginning of a vacation--get out ...more

Alison Reynolds is blogging again and investigating another murder, unofficaially. This time the corpse is her almost former husband. Again her parents and son are involved in the investigation. Also one of the Sedona detectives whe worked with before lends a helping hand and a promise of romance. Jance's skills at creating a sense of place again factor into showing the reader LA. I like the series but I'm still baffled by how wrapped up people become in blogging.

This is the second in Jance's Ali Reynolds series. I didn't love this one as much as the first. It's an okay read though for a weekend mystery.
Horrible typo in this book that is practically unforgiveable. The main character's name is Ali, short for Alison. At the end of the book, while everything is culminating, Ali is referred to as Alice. Mistakes happen, but I hope they fixed this error in the paperback release.

I liked this book. It was short and suspenseful and not too long. I've read so many long books lately that it was nice to just enjoy a nice short book. I of course now have to read the other too with this character. This one happens to be in the middle of the three (I didn't know this until after I read it) so I will read the first one next and the last one after that. Silly me.

My first book by her. I think my mom, who lives in AZ gave me the book. Not bad, but not memorable. In six months, I'll see the book in our pile of paperbacks and likely as not have to work to recall if I read it. An interesting story, characters to care about, but light and fast.

I have read almost everything by JA Jance. Her writing is good but I think I like the books being set in familiar locales that make me really enjoy her. Interesting, fast read

I am a huge JA Jance fan. I enjoy this series, although not as much as the Joanna Brady series. It's just a fun read.
