Why do Do-It-Yourself...

Single mom Anne Edmond can handle—and hand-make—just about anything. From table settings to party favors, floral arrangements to nursery décor, there is no project her creativity and a glue gun can’t tackle. But dating? That’s a whole ’nother story. Case in point: Mike Everett. He’s a gorgeous mechanic and known car-whisperer, a man who can work wit

4 - "I've thought about you every day since I met you." Stars!

Start Me Up was an absolutely brilliant beginning to the Hearts and Crafts Series. I loved Anne and Mike. Their chemistry and the story development in general set off at a steady and enjoyable pace. Anne’s daughter Claire added a little light relief, and her friends and co-bloggers on My Perfect Little Life Callie and Lindsey offered great scope for their future books.

I love a series, set in and around a small community and Nicole Mic
There are no words to describe how much I loved this book! Anne is a single mom who runs a blog My Perfect Little Life with her two best friends. She plans parties, her friend Callie is a baker and her friend Lindsey re-purposes old furniture. Her blog is extremely popular and provides for her and her daughter. Anne's daughter Claire is best friends with Mike's niece. When Mike drops his niece off at Claire's birthday party, he meets Anne and instantly attracted to her and her curves. The ...more

This is such a feel good book. Not extremely complicate, just a nice love story about two extremely likeable characters.

Mike is such a stand-up guy. He initially comes off as a commitment phobic playboy but all that changes when he meets the right woman. The one that makes him want more than just sex. As soon as he met Anne, he knew she was it for him. Sure, he was in denial initially, what guy in a romance novel isn’t? But once he made up his mind that he wanted her, and only her, he went a

Mike thought he would just drop his niece off at her friend's birthday party but when a living breathing goddess opens the door he decides to brave the pink explosion inside and stay a while. The goddess, Anne, sees herself more as a slightly too heavy, on the wrong side of 30, and with the added bonus of being a single mom, not exact

Dear Curvy Blogger
I confess that in the past couple of months I have been falling away from adult romances, but I am slowly forcing myself to come back to them. I realize that I limit them myself enough just sticking to the romance genre, so I’m making it my mission to not limit myself to one age group or sub-genre. I don’t want to miss out on g

This book was exactly what I needed. It's a "feel good" book.

Anne Edmond is having her daughter's birthday party when she meets "Uncle Mike".
Mike Everett is dropping her niece to the party when Anne opens the door. Suddenly, Mike is not in a hurry to leave. He finds himself staying longer than necessary in order to get to know Anne better.

Anne is divorced, she works as a party planner and has a blog she co-writes with two other friends. Her blog is very popular but it was one of the reason's

Start Me Up (Hearts and Crafts #1) by Nicole Michaels is exactly what I enjoy in a contemporary romance. The main couple is adorable sexy, and the plot held my interest until the very end. Anne and Mike have great chemistry right from the start, although they seem to come from different worlds. But they mesh so well together, and actually go through a nice type of courtship before jumping in to bed together. Their romance is really great, and Nicole can sure write some steamy love scenes, ...more

On one hand, I liked the idea of Anne being slightly older than Mike (she is 32, while Mike is 29). I thought this story was cute and it didn't overburdened with angst. Anne had a body image issue in the beginning but Mike clearly thought she looked perfect. I would like to see Mike connected with Anne's daughter, Claire, a little bit more.

On the other hand, I couldn't really say that I love this book either. I think this is just a case in which I didn't really connected with the characters nor

Nothing beats coming across a great book written by a new to me author. This is one of those times. It's wonderfully written and has a great group of characters. I am hoping this is the beginning of a series because a couple of the secondary characters definitely need their own story. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

This book is one of those books that just makes you happy. It was a sweet and romantic read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

The romance in this book was pretty much insta-love. Upon seeing Anne for the first time, Mike started thinking about starting a family and he was pretty much in love with her from the start. That was a little cliche, but Nicole Michaels was able to make it sweet.

Mike was charming and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed his character, and by the end of the book, I was completely in lov

I've found an author to add to my favorites list!!

"You have a wicked mouth, Anne. Makes me wonder what else it can do."

Uncle Mike is so cute and sweet and sexy. Damn. I need to find me one of him.
I absolutely adored how they meet and that Anne kept calling him "Uncle Mike". Mike was just the sweetest thing calling Anne "Perfect." I'm in love!

Marie, Anne's mom, was just a hoot and a half. I think she was more into Mike than Anne was! Marie was totally #TeamUncleMike.

I was unexpectedly charmed by Nicole Michaels' debut novella, Blame It on the Mistletoe, so I couldn't resist requesting Start Me Up for review. It's an enjoyable read from start to finish, low on the angst scale but with plenty of chemistry between our couple. I think it could benefit from a few cuts, as the story seemed to drag in a few places and the heroine's insecurities started to feel repetitive. I also can't say that this particular romance stands out it in my mind, yet when I was readin ...more

Nicole Michaels is a new-to-me author, and Start Me Up is a cute, if not predictable romance.

Single mum Anne meets sexy mechanic Mike and true love ensues.

While there is nothing new to this story line - boy meets, girl, boy likes girl, boy and girl fall in love, misunderstanding, breakup, boy gets girl back again - I did enjoy it.

At times Anne did annoy me - she was always on about being a mature woman, but she
I picked this book up on sale because I was intrigued by the blurb about it, however after reading it, I'm a bit torn. It was ok, worth a rounded up three star rating, but Anne really kept me from enjoying the story fully.

I liked the idea of the blog, but I didn't like how Anne kept trying to hide how much her blog meant to her/how big of a deal it was. I could understand it if she was an intensely private person, but she wasn't, and it seemed like she wanted to have two separate lives: one for

I couldn't wait to read Start Me Up, it sounded so cute. I love the whole idea of the book. In fact, the whole series sounds so good.

I just wish I could say that I loved this story. No, I didn't hate it either. For me it wasn't good or bad. It just was...

Yes, that sounds wishy-washy. I don't know how else to say it. It's not like I didn't like the book but in no means did I love it. I'm not even sure I liked it enough to read another book in the series. It will all depend on if one day I change

Finally this book is out in the world! Guys, I loved this book so much. From the gorgeous cover to the richly written characters to the oh so charming town. (I have to move to this town for the delectable shops and the strong hot men.) From the very first page, Michaels gives you a sexy taste of the main love interest Mike Everett. Who doesn’t love a strong confident man who can take his niece to a little girl’s birthday party? He’s the perfect balance of man’s man with the tender love and ...more

Start Me Up was a sweet book that was a quick read. Mike and Anne meet at her daughter's party and there is an instant attraction on both sides. While the first part of this book took a while to pick up the pace, once the story got into it was a good, solid read. The characters were enjoyable, the banter was fun and the heat was enough to keep everything interesting. While I didn't love all the places this book went, it was a light easy read and I will be sure to check out this author again.
3-1/2 stars. Or 3.

Okay, first of all, Anne is a girl after my own heart--she's crafty and she's a blogger. Which you know I love.

I don't think I've ever read anything by Nicole Michaels before, and honestly I don't know that I loved this enough to keep reading the rest of the books in the series. I liked it well enough--it was definitely light and sweet, but I don't know. Thought I liked the characters and the idea for the story, I didn't love it.

Mike and Anne have an instalove connection. Well

"This man made her feel things she didn't know were possible. Silly things from songs and movies seemed not so silly anymore. A heart could quicken, a breath could catch, and a few words could make you feel alive. She wanted to feel this, but it was dangerous. He said he wanted to know her, but for how long would that last?"

In all my years of reading and writing about romance, I’ve seen a lot of things used as plot devices to further the story. Animals, other characters, the environment, dreams, and more. But this is the first book in which I’ve had the internet be an integral player in a romance! It was not only the “other person” that broke up her marriage to ex-husband Scott–according to him–but in this quirky, funny tale, it’s the hidden relationship, the thing that

First, I have to say this is a big departure from my normal reading materials. However, the author and I used to be friends and neighbors , so I wanted to check out her writing. I absolutely loved the characters--Anne, the party planning, blog writing, creative and cute single mom, Mike, the sexy auto restoration manly man, Callie, the best friend of Anne, co-author of her blog, dance squad coaching , baker and many other quirky characters. Yes, yes and YES! "Start Me Up" was such a great little story that caught me by surprise. I went on a book buying spree during Christmas and scooped up some paperbacks I'd been wanting (shout out: Book Outlet! woop woop) when I saw this pop up in the romance section. The cover caught my eye first. It screamed sweet and wholesome with a dash of sexy and then I read the synopsis. And Nicole Michaels had me at "Single mom". I'm a sucker for an MC with a kid and this one played right up to my ...more

Uncle Mike is my new book boyfriend. Holy Batman Balls, he's a sexy man! And he's actually a gentleman, too! Be still my pounding heart!

Nicole Michaels has made it onto my list of favorite authors. I enjoyed this book so much! The lust between Anne and Mike from their very first encounter is so palpable that I was yelling "OH MY GOD, PLEASE GET HIM NAKED ALREADY" before I was even through the third chapter. I really liked how Nicole took them right to the edge of having sex and then scaled it b
This is the type of book you reach for when you want one of those feel-good stories, the kind that make you smile, the kind that you read and barely even get up from your comfy seat. I've read this one twice now and dang I just love it when a book is better after the first time.

If you've read Blame It On The Mistletoe by Nicole Michaels (you should!) then you're familiar with the crafty little set-up she has going here. Several friends own their own local businesses-three of them run a very suc

Start Me Up is that special kind of feel good novel that we all need – not every story has to be full of angst and over the top drama.

Anne is a divorced, single mom to the adorable Claire. She has a very popular blog My Perfect Little Life which is a combination of life, kids, DIY crafts – simply a very upbeat, informative spot that touches on almost all aspects of life. Her friends Callie and Lindsey also contribute to the blog which rounds it out even further
