Recommends it for: Anyone interested in fictional treatments of Christian history
Goodreads author Andrew Seddon and I have been pen pals for about 10 years now, and he kindly gave me a signed copy of this latest book from his pen --not as a way of angling for a review, but as an expression of friendly generosity. While I've stated here that I read the book one time, I've actually beta read most of the dozen stories earlier (and Andrew graciously noted that in the acknowledgements); but I don't think I did the last three, and since it had been awhile for the other nine, I ...more

I was asked to write a few words about this book. I received it months before it was published and just a straight typeset. I was hooked from the first story and immediately purchased Volume I Saints of Empire and have devoured both book three times in as many months. It is an excellent read and I really hope there will be more books in the series.

In this new collection, Seddon has taken on an even more challenging task than he did in Saints of Empire: working from confused sources, confusing names, and a tissue of legend and fantasy, he brings to life saints that most of us have never even heard of, such as Ailbhe, Senan, and Tewdrig, as well as others whose names, at least, will be a bit more familiar: Brigid, Columba, and Brendan.
