Read in January, 2007
recommends it for:
completists, vintage horror movie geeks
After reading multiple short stories from Mr. Campbell, I really expected more from this novel. Despite some generally cool ideas, a nice set up, and one or two decent set pieces, the novel as a whole left me feeling flat.
While I like the concept of hidden secrets concealed in a lost film, Flicker or the Masters of Horror episode "Cigarette Burns" pulled it off so much better.

As I've stated before, I have a love/hate relationship with Mr. Campbell. This is my favorite book by him because I actually get it. Plus, it centers around the discovery of a "lost" horror film starring Karloff and Lugosi. Good stuff!
