This series has been amusing for me, and this particular book was surprisingly sweet. Yes, all the kids are still smoking pot and cigarettes, sleeping around and getting drunk, but they are also worried about getting into college (or not getting in as the case may be). Also, Chuck with his monkey and Tiphany's ferret were really funny to me for some reason. Would I want my teenager reading these (well, if I was old enough to have a teen)? Probaby not. Do I want to read them myself? Absolutely! T ...more

I refused to read these books when my peers were in to them (middle school...), and now that I've actually read one of them I am so very glad that I did not waste more time on them as an impressionable youngster.

So, it's supposed to be "teenagery" because there's lots of drugs and booze and sex? I guess... But I'm pretty sure glorifying all of these things for the young'uns is not what young adult novels (which people are reading in middle school) should be doing. Sheesh. I am so disappointed in

It took me about 6 months to read this book. I'm not sure if that's because I'm having a tough schoolyear or because I'm bored of the series.

I think what Ziegesar has done with Gossip Girl is admirable. In my experience, kids that hate to read are reading and that's not an easy feat. I think it would be more helpful if she took something like the ability to capture a teenager's attention and made it teachable like throw a bunch of figurative language in there along with the cursing, sex, and ma

ok, so I'm six books into this series now and have not really felt like writing a review until now. why now? oh who knows. I liked the first four books, as much as I can like fluff, but found the last two just too far fetched and to have incredibly ridiculous plot lines that its getting harder and harder to care for any if the characters. time sure seems to have slowed to a turtle pace in the novels so that one more ridiculous event after another can be added. I'm curious as to what will happen ...more

Okay as much as I enjoy a Gossip Girl book while relaxing in the bathtub I really think I am starting to lose brain cells reading these books so I think this will be my last one....maybe...:)

It started off at a good pace, with Vanessa starting her new movie, Blair, Serena and Nate going through the troubles of college. Dan being his emo self, trying to win V back while enjoying his college acceptance. Then Jenny, who is off trying to become a model. Then the book started to fall, about half way through.

Blair had acted not quite as I would have expected, moping around because of her wait listing into Yale. Serena, of course, gets accepted everywhere and now has to decide among Harva

Okay, if you read the Gossip Girl books because you love the series, congratulations! You have just been utterly disappointed! Bet you never imagined Blair to always be cursing and arming herself with cigarettes, right? And the overuse of drugs and booze? I can dig the scandalous lives, but not the obsession with drugs and whatnots. I don't even consider this a book. It's just a collection of half-witty lines only made popular by the series. There's even no flow in the content! Just terrible.

I read this book as part of the campaign the Cedar Falls Public Library did for Banned Books Week. The book was banned due to "homosexual elements, sexual content, drug use, and offensive language". Now that I am finished with the book, I don't know whether to laugh or cry over these ridiculous reasons for banning this book.

The homosexual elements consisted of nothing more than typical teenage name calling and rumor-mongering. There was no actual homosexual sex, and even if there had been it is

I feel like saying "Same as usual!" Because there isn't much in the way of character development. Jenny and Dan kind of get out on their own with some help, but everyone else stays the same. The off-and-on romance between B & N continue, and Serena's buffet of boys continues as well. They receive their college acceptance letters in this novel. Of course Blair has problems with where she gets accepted. Always drama.

only made it half way through this one after reading all the rest in a desperate attempt to placate my friend. Sex, drugs, clothes. How many books can they write with no substance, and no moral standing. The publishers should really think twice about something that may be a cash cow, but is not good for anyone.

Ok, this was my second attempt at reading a GG novel by Ziegesar and they both were bad. Unfortunately, the only GG novels that I like are the Carlyle ones which are written by a different author. This is sad considering how I love the TV series. The characters in here seem so flat.

I still enjoy parts of this series and they certainly are light , quick books but overall I'm getting a little bored with it all. It all sort of seems the same and the characters never really change or show any growth. I'll continue with the series but it's losing some of its appeal.

Same as before, but everyone is just getting sillier and sillier. Serena has no attention span, Blair and Nate keep getting back together and breaking up, Dan is blah and Vanessa was extremely out of character. Some of the college acceptance letter part were fun to read.

SO far i think that blair needs to cool off about college acceptance stuff and all that cuz when in a bad mood make the best of your fun
but o well if she doesnt want to change her ways
wat i really wanna noe is...WHO IS REALLY DATING NATE? BLAIR?

The way Von Ziegesar captures the raw beauty of New York in the material beauty of the characters is brilliant. Such brilliance could never be reproduced, leaving the T.V show based upon the books to be deemed.. trash.

*sigh* This series is just one of those you still keep on reading and hoping it's going to get better. But it's not. And you just can give up.

This book was all about college, success, failure, and boyfriends. I think that the writing was descriptive because I felt like I was there with them all and felt all of their emotions. A strength of the book was the drama, it kept me hooked on it! A weakness of the book must have been the switching characters point of views. It's nice to see what other characters think but it can get confusing. I would recommend this book to a girl classmate but not a boy because it's very girly. Also, I have s ...more

Warning: SPOILERS!

Hello Dear Readers! And Happy Lazy Sunday!

I'm at Scruff's this weekend but I thought I would break up the monotony of my weekend with one of the book reviews I promised you in this post. As most of you know, I was a huge fan of the Gossip Girl television series and I had been wanting to read the books. Well, I finally got a hold of them and started reading them at the end of January. I finished up book 11 recently and am finally ready to write out the review.

You're The One That I Want is the sixth book in the Gossip Girl series and I think it is the best book so far.

The book follows the lives of Upper East Side teenagers who live elite lives in Manhattan. This book centres a lot around getting into the colleges of their choice but as you would expect not all of them get as they wish for.

I thought it was interesting in this book to see the characters visiting there potential colleges and how they realise it will be very different from there lives n

This books follows the life of blair, serena, and Nate. In this book all of the Constance seniors receive their collge applications. Blair wants to go to Yale so badly, but when she reads her letters for collge she is on the waiting list for Yale even though she has outstanding grades so she doesn't understand Yale's decison. On the other hand, her bestfriend Serena which is less smarter than Blair gets into Yale the college of Blair's dream and she gets accepetd to all the collges that she appl ...more

May I just put it out there that this has to be my now all-time favorite book out of the entire Gossip Girl series thus far! Eep!

Man, oh man. This book had captivated me so much that I now can't even recall all that had happened in the book. There was simply so much to take in!

Most of the beginning of the book focused on college admissions (receiving them, rejecting them, or simply lamenting over the fact that you're now forced to go to some strange military boot camp because you weren't accepte

Okay, I'm revising my review of this book that I haven't touched in maybe five years--but there's an actual reason for this. One of the reasons I enjoyed this series when I was younger because it was set in my hometown (parts of it were even in my old neighborhood!) and there were lots of places I knew and recognized, and it was very effective in bringing the books to life. Of course, the characters in this book were in high school when I read them (I was in middle school) and so it didn't reall ...more

How I Came To Read This Book: I owned the rest of the series so…

The Plot: There isn’t really a specific event to ground this entry in the GG series. It’s after Spring Break I guess, and those that didn’t learn their fates in the winter are anxiously anticipating whether they’ll get the thin or thick envelopes. Nate is still dating his random crackheaded mistress, Blair is still snuggling up with Eric (ironically or not, a total juxtaposition to the ‘Eric’ of the TV show), and Serena is rocking t

As college applications start to arrive, and the word gets around, gossip builds up as the stakes are raised and friendships are put to the test. For example, the friendship between the threesome that's been together forever, Blair, Serena, and Nate. Ever since the 4th grade Blair has had her heart set on Yale, and even named her new baby sister after the university. Despite these wishes, she completely blew both of her chances to get in, and is losing sleep at night from her nerves. Without her ...more
