I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review

Margaret and Cain have known each other for years, with Cain silently and at times not so silently loving Margaret from the sidelines. When Margaret's sister is taken by the Lord of Lisford, who just so happens to be Margaret's ex-fiancée and the man who left her at the altar, she immediately goes to the one man she trusts to help her. Cain knows it is n

It was an okay read. The h pushes the H for half of the book. Then, after all the begging, she finally gives in. I wasn't too excited about that.
By any means, it's not a must read but if you're in the mood for a historical, you can give this a try.
Lover of Romance
Unlaced By The Outlaw is the fourth book in her latest series "Secrets in Silk". Now I have read this author before, one of her viking romances, and loved it. So when I was asked to read and give a honest review for this one, I could barely contain my excitement, and I will be honest...the title really drew me. Many older romance novels that I fell in love with had similar play on words of this title, and so I was curious to see what it was like...and I found I just had so much fun with this ...more

I wanted to like this book more than I did. The blurb on the back sounded really promising and I enjoy Highland romances, but with this one I found my attention wandering and did not connect with the characters. The writing was smooth and there was some solid action, but I had trouble becoming involved.

Not So Opposite

Cain Sinclair and Margaret Andrews couldn't have been more opposite. He a highlander and she a member of the ton with an over developed sense of propriety, became acquainted when the Andrew sister's opened a business in secret called Aphrodite's Unmentionables. He was a currier from the country to England to deliver the "unmentionables" to the merchants. Over time they became friends and when tragedy stuck Margaret knew the only that could help her was Cain. That's where their tru

Finally we get to hear Margaret's story! The 4th in a series, it can stand alone. In this story, Margaret and Cain are wandering the Highlands in search of her missing sister. Eventually Cain does what he can to drag it out, and this time allows Margaret to find herself. I felt the story flowed and there was laughter, tears, and a little mystery. All good things in a romance novel.

2.5 stars. A rather disappointing conclusion to the Andrews Sisters saga. The whole business with Cain's brother feels tacked on, like the book should have ended ages ago.

This is the story of Cain and Margaret. Cain is a poor highlander and Margaret is English and the daughter of a Earl. When Margaret is young and moves to Scotland with her family, she meets Cain and he is smitten with her. Their friendship grows and Cain helps Margaret and her sister's business by delivering lingerie they designed to London for them. When Amelia, Margaret's sister, is abducted by a unwanted suitor, Margaret turns to Cain for help in tracking them down.

Things I liked:
-The authors
There were three plotlines weaving throughout this book – one for the main couple, Margaret and Cain, one for Margaret’s parents, and one for Cain’s brother Jonah. During my initial read-through, I was a little confused (and frustrated) about why so much time was spent with these secondary characters. Get back to Margaret and Cain, I thought. But by the end, Ms. Willingham did a good job of weaving the three lines together in such a way that it did not seem forced. Instead, information and ...more

The title of this book is ridiculous and hugely misleading. There is no “Outlaw” in this book. There is much more substance to this story than the marketing offers.

This is the fourth book in a series, and I did feel that I was missing out by not reading the earlier books. I definitely understood what was going on, but I know for certain my reading experience would have been better if I’d read the other books – and in order.

I loved many aspects of the relationship in this story. The characters al
I received this book as an e-ARC free from Netgalley. Below is my review.

I've heard great things about Willingham so when I saw this available on Netgalley, I jumped at the chance to try her out. Let's just say I was underwhelmed and most of that was my fault.

First, this is book 4 in a series and you definitely need to read these books in order. A lot of the characters and situations are follow-ons to what has already happened, only I didn't know that so I didn't understand a lot of what was goi

With most historical romances series, I rarely feel like I’ve missed something when I jump in with a later installment. Here, I have to say that starting out with the fourth book in the Secrets in Silk series, there was no doubt I was coming into a story in progress. Even though each book has its own HEA, there was obviously a lot of history in play, both in the romance and the larger story arc.

Though I obviously don’t like feeling lost, I think I’m safe in saying that my lack of history with th

Unlaced by the Outlaw, the fourth book in the Secrets in Silk series by Michelle Willingham, is a quick read that, in spite of being fairly predictable, delivers an interesting mystery and a steamy romance.

Romantic and enjoyable, Unlaced by the Outlaw was a definite win. From the truly engaging characters to the sweet romance, this book was a delight and I really liked it.

Margaret was definitely an interesting character who went through a lot of changes over the course of the book. In the beginning, she was somewhat snobbish, seeing titles and wealth as a greater indicator of a man's worth than his character. But, even then, she retained a core of strength that even she didn't realize she had. And

This is a fun romp on the fringe of well-off society in England and Scotland.

A young lady has been abducted by an older man who wishes to take her to Gretna Green and marry her, having compromised her name. The girl's older sister, still unwed after five seasons, might be thought to be envious when she chases off in pursuit, but we're assured that she's only thinking of the girl's happiness. She goes to a tavern and finds a Scotsman she knows who, being acquainted with the roads north, might he

I really, really liked this story! This is an absolute winner from Michelle Willingham! Margaret believes her sister, Amelia, has been forced into running away with a despicable lord. The same despicable lord who backed out of wedding Margaret days before their wedding a couple of years ago. Margaret feels guilty for not protecting/chaperoning her sister well enough and is determined to leave London and find her. Margaret knows that Cain Sinclair, a man she has known for a decade, will do almost ...more

I received this book free from the Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read this author before so I found this book a little confusing at first. There are three plots that are highlighted in this story. The main couple is Margaret and Cain. Then Margaret's parents and Cain's brother have their own plots. There were also a lot of flashbacks that gave important information about Margaret's character but made it difficult at times to keep up with the plot.

I've been waiting for Cain and Margaret's story since their first appearance in UNDONE BY THE DUKE (the first book in this series). I haven't been disappointed :) Once again Michelle Willingham has brilliantly written a page turning adventure of love and daring. A hero worthy of the name and a heroine who discovers, in herself, a backbone of steel which she needs to fight for the man she loves.
This is the fourth book in the Secrets in Silk series, the others being UNDONE BY THE DUKE, UNRAVELED B

These are not your soft-core bodice-rippers, with mannered ladies and gentlemen, tea in the parlor and innuendo on the veranda. You will find real sex, real passion, and real hot underwear in these novels!

Sober Margaret is the last of the four Andrews sisters to become enmeshed in the rewards and risks of the trade in silken secrets. Jilted in her engagement to the same Viscount who later kidnapped her young sister Amelia, Margaret finds herself "on the shelf" in this society that disregards old

This is one of my favorite series. Michelle has a way of developing the best plots that make you hate to put the book down. This goes for the people too. These people take some time to figure what they want and they won't back down! Cain and Margaret(my favorite name) have been an item for years but she has just realized it. She is prim, proper and wants to marry a Duke. He is poor, no title and would die to protect her. Her sister Amelia is in trouble and she races to Cain to help save her. Uh ...more

This book was really well written. Despite the fact that I found it a little long, the pages seem to fly by real quick.
Margaret is a spinster who would be happy to marry a rich titled gentleman. Cain is a commoner who has been in love with Margaret since he first laid eyes on her. When Margaret runs into the gambling hall of the local inn, headless of her reputation, Cain knows that something is wrong. Margaret explains that her sister has been kidnapped, and she needs Cain to find her. He fina

Unlaced by the Outlaw is a pleasant read with three storylines, the main one being Margaret and Cain's. The story revolves around Margaret's attempt to save her sister from a dangerous elopement and she enlists childhood friend Cain to help her. At times it can be a bit confusing with the three lines plus the flashbacks to their childhood, but overall it is well written. The characters are solid though a bit predictable. While seeing characters grow into their own during a book is good, ...more

Loved Margaret and Cain's story. Cain is a highland outlaw and his devotion to Margaret through-out the years is what love stories are about and Margaret's ambitions to wed a titled man makes for a great adventure. Then send them on an unchaperoned adventure through the wild and you get one great love story. Mix in the side story of Cain's little brother Jonah's trouble and the reawakening of Margaret's parents "Beatrice and Henry" love for each other. Another great book by Michelle

The story itself wasn't bad but it was so poorly written it was painful. Also the author didn't do her homework. There were many historically inaccurate elements in this series. Finally the narrator dropped the ball on this one. Margaret's voice, consistent through three books, is suddenly different now she is the heroine. The villain has a impressive, dignified voice while the heroine's father has the voice of a bad melodrama villain. This should have been the best of the series but it just ...more

Another great book by this author

I have read all 4 books in order. After getting used to this author's style of writing in the first book, the following books are even better. Michelle writes with such passion and emotions of each of the characters, it made me feel like I was in the story. I really enjoyed reading this book. The epilogue was such a surprise ending, I didn't see it coming. The author pays attention to detail of each character as well as the time period within she writes about. Pr

I have enjoyed this book I think the best. I loved reading the buildup from the other three books in the series of Margaret and Cain's attraction. I knew it would be awesome when they finally got together but I was enthralled from the first page to the last. The last chapter was a big surprise as well. The writing is flawless the story moved along at a great pace. Fans of Victoria Roberts, Sabrina Jeffries, Mary Balogh, and Karen Hawkins will enjoy this entire series.

This was a ho-hum story with mildly interesting characters in improbable situations under circumstances that often seemed forced. The hero was pretty good, the heroine a ninny with good intentions but not much sense. The hero's younger brother was the most interesting character and his problems logical, but they seemed tossed in to create more conflict for the main players. I liked the Aphrodite's Unmentionables. Even the title is misleading. I couldn't see how the hero was any kind of outlaw.

This book is the last in the series of 4 books, each about a different daughter with a different suitor. I liked a couple of the other books better in the series than this one. This one lacked some of the emotional tension that I like to experience when a couple is learning about themselves and each other, although it did have some suspense. There's a murder mystery thrown into the last third of the book.

Secrets in Silk Book Four.

Margaret Andrews is a proper lady who would never compromise herself again. That is, until her sister is abducted by the man who disgraced her years ago. She turns to the tempting Highlander, Cain, for protection as she goes after Amelia. However, their carriage overturns and they must find a way to survive without her means and status.

If you're looking for the fantastic conclusion of the Secrets in Silk Quartet, you've found it!
