I loved this book. Absolutely loved it. Yes, I'm a bit biased being that I went to college in Eau Claire (where part of it takes place) and that the author currently lives outside of my hometown, but this was such a fun book. It is chock full of strong, independent women, and you gotta love that. I'd like to think I'm a bit like Eve. She has a devil-may-care attitude and is so lucky to have a friend like Ruby. So fun and I whipped through it in less than 24 hours. Love it when I can do that! It...more

These are characters I would love to meet...and hang around with...especially on Madeline Island. Having visited there several times, my being was transported to all the spots he described. Be sure to read the sequel to this book as well. Just loved them both...easy, fun, entertaining reading.

I read this book while camping on Madeline Island, so that was kind of cool. It is a good chick-lit book, complete with the gay couple living next door. (Not in the book enough to count it as gay-lit.)
Jeanne
Way, way too much detail and tried too hard to add local details. I returned it to the library before I finished it. Way too many, better things to read.
Margaret Jadin
picked this up while on vacation in Hilton Head for a light rainy day read. It suited the bill perfectly. I raced through it. It was a fun book
Carmen
good book to read before vacay to Duluth and Apostle Islands. Eve and Ruby decide to move to the islands and sell aprons.
Tracie Simonton
I loved this story of older woman settling on Madeline Island. I hope I have that much fun in my wiser years.
Colleen
Read this book in an afternoon. Light hearted read about a group of women discoverind and following their dreams.
Cara
loved the comraderie among the women - fun story but more swearing than I usually tolerate...
Anne
Not a bad story, just did not like the execution.
Jill

Really liked this book, maybe because it takes place around the area I live. Fun book to read.

Dumb story, painfully bad writing. I quit in the middle because I just couldn't take it anymore.
Stacy
Loved this book and now want to visit Madeline Island! Great character development and easy reading.

I enjoyed this book because much of it took place near my area of Eau Claire and then on to Madeline Island. Since I've also been there I felt I could relate to the setting. It's a story of a hairdresser, who sells her shop for a good amount of money and moves with a friend to Madeline Island. I like to read Wisconsin authors.

Fun, colorful characters! Much of this story is based on real life stories Gilbertson heard in his own salon! Check out my interview with the author at my blog!

A Happy-Go-Lucky Free-Wheeling account of two women who decided to dump everthing and nove to Madeline Island. You will especially enjoy if you are a fan of the area. Sounds like something that any one of us could and might write. Simple read-sort of fun.

Loved it! Knowing the author it doesn't surprise me he would write such a great book as this. Being from that area I could relate and visualize the people & places. It was such a fun book. Jay is so talented could not wait to read #2!

This was a quick read and I liked it. I was annoyed by the "sweetie pie" kind of talk in the beginning but the characters grew on me. Good girl stuff!
Tracy
I liked the setting of the story and the characters were likeable, but I couldn't get into it. It seemed too predictable to me--and too idealistic.
Jody
Good chic lit about the power and beauty of female friendship. Written by a man! Who'd a thunk it?
Angie
Fun, quick read. Great to have such a good local author.
Kelly Lemmer
Couldn't finish. Didn't hold my interest.
Linda
