Substantially better than the atrocious Silent Hill graphic novel which preceded it, this volume benefits from the standalone nature of the three tales within. The shorter story format allowed for some more experimental approaches to the material, becoming far more surreal and at times bleakly humorous. Each of the individual stories are intriguing in their own right, though the first - Among the Damned - was to me by far the most successful. Artwork is wilfully surreal in a squint to understand what's going on kind of way, and the stories are the same, but this was gooey, unsettling stuff and the last two titles were my favourites, involving the trapped artist who really does what I'd hope to do in SH - finds the creatures more fascinating than scary. The cop in the final piece and his would-be Mulder replacement was also great fun. Happy to go back to Silent Hill for these three brief stories.
