This is a favorite from Bob Munsch's live storytelling sessions.

Brigid is on the trail of the ultimate felt marker. At first, she's satisfied to be drawing wonderful pictures. But soon she must have the markers that wash off with water. Then she needs the markers that smell.

But she's happiest when she gets the super-indelible-never-comes-off-till-you're-dead markers. She d

Purple, Green and Yellow by Robert N. Munsch, illustrated by Helene Desputeaux is a great picturebook spinning off the absolute love for coloring with markers that children have. In this case after Bridget gets washable markers, then smelly markers, and resists coloring on herself, her Mom buys Bridget super-permanent markers. After getting bored, she finally does color on herself, but comes up with a creative solution.

Desputeaux uses bright colors to illustrate this funny story. Th...more

This book is about a girl who keeps asking her mother for markers, promising she wont draw on herself.

This book can be used in a math lesson by counting all the markers in the book. The mother buys large number amounts of markers at a time, and the class can practice adding large numbers, or graph the different marker amounts.

This book can also be used as a science lesson on senses. What colors is she SEEING and what does she relate it to? What color SCENTS are there and why ...more

This, and I Love You For Ever are my childhood books.
As a child I have been read to many of Munsch's books, to grow up and read whats left of them at our home myself and realize the are just as great for a child like they are for a young adult, and hopefully an adult (I'll get back to you on that one).
Maybe it is the nostalgia factor that makes me see Robert N. Munsch as one of the greatest child book authors, and maybe he truly is great.
Anyway he is the best for me, and hopef...more

This is a great book to read when talking about colors because the little girl gets hundreds of markers that are permanent, smelly, and really bright and her mom tell her repeatedly not to color on herself and one day, she finally decided to draw on herself and she ends up having to color over all of the bright colors with a marker that matched her skin to hide all of the marker. This would be a good book to use for science as well as to teach a lesson about not drawing all over yourself with pe...more

A classic by Robert Munsch, this book is definitely one of my favorites by him. Brigid is a young girl who LOVES to color with markers. What child doesn't? After pleading with her mother, she does get her markers (in fact, 3 different sets). However, the real fun begins when Brigid decides to draw on herself. Will they find a solution to get the markings off? A fun one to read aloud to individuals or to groups.

We were SO happy to discover this book. Eight years ago Sophia saw me writing with a scrapbook marker and asked, "Mom, is that a super indelible never come off until you die and maybe even later marker?" I laughed out loud. She said it was from a book that her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jorgensen, had read to the class. But, she couldn't remember the book. Her words made an impact however, and we have since called all permanent markers "super indelible, never come off until you di...more

Munsch writes great stories. His girls are all strong and not "looking for prince charming-ish." They stand on their own two feet. Stephanie (Stephanie's Ponytail) and The Paper Bag Princess are two more wonderful stories of girls who stand their own ground. The books often are very silly too, which a kid's story should be.

Brigid wants markers. She talks her mother into buying them. As she gets bored with one type mom buys her another. However, Brigid gets into trouble when she gets bored and colors on herself creating a major problem. Bright cheery, colorful. This book was lots of fun.

My mother only wishes that this book had been out when I was smaller, it's a great book for teaching your children't not only to not draw on things other than paper, but in this case not use nail polish without mommy's suppervision.

One of my top five stories of all time for young children! It has an easy readability factor much like a dr. seuss but for older children. Very funny and clever.

Even at twenty-four I still love this book as much as I did when I was five. If you have a kid who is a budding artist, I guarantee they won't be disappointed with this book. But be prepared for a lot of marker play afterwards; I know it definitely fueled my interest for body art ;)

I love this book! It is very great to use when teaching colors. It also teaches child that they should be happy with who they are.

I totally missed out on this guy when I was a kid. The creativity of this story blows a lot of similar kids junk out of the water.

Another one of my favorite books of all time. Not just in the children's genre either. A great book. I read this in 6th grade for the first time. Well, I had it read *to* me, but I promptly went to the book-fair and bought my own copy. My copy is now *very* loved, and I have read it to every babysitting charge, niece, nephew, friend, etc. Still love this book after 16 years!

Robert Munsch has a great way of teaching students lessons through humor! This story is a great one to remind students how to use markers!
