Although I don't keep up with many manga or anime anymore, the one "author" (i guess you could call it??) I will always keep up with is CLAMP and I'm HELLA behind so I ordered a couple of the omnibuses of their series I'm not caught up on YAY

To be honest, I had a rough time getting into this book.

I saw it and was intrigued by the title - "Legal Drug" and the description of the green drug store. Being as I live in Colorado, I assumed it's about the adventures of working in a pot shop.

No, no, not at all.

I never figured out the "legal drug" idea. It is about two men who run a drugstore and the two teenagers who live there and work there.

But there's really no drugstore story to speak of. All four of these men have special powers. Rikuo

CLAMP, pretty boys, drama, tragedy, mystery, yaoi--what's not to love?

Well, I'm a little bit of a heretic. I'm not that into CLAMP. They're all right, don't get me wrong. But the only series I've ever bothered to go out and buy is 'Chobits.' For some reason, I just don't bond with their stuff. Not that it's bad, far from it. Just not my cup of tea. But this one should please CLAMP fans. For me, it got good with the last story arc, which had a bit more in the way of plot intricacies, even if the

My first foray into CLAMP's work and is certainly a good entrance. Legal drug, while not perfect or finished, is a very good story. I find myself wanting to see more of the characters but the one problem I have with this work is the lack of backgrounds. The ones that appear are sparse and a majority of the manga is made up of people standing in front of white spaces.
I was hoping this would be about drugs but it was actually just yaoi. Not that I mind.

I started reading the work of CLAMP when I was very young, and Legal Drug was one of the series I read when TokyoPop was still in business. Those of you that follow the industry know that there were only ever three books of this series (both in Japan and the United States) but no real ending to the series. Now, about 10 years after the originals came out, CLAMP is finally finishing the story of Legal Drug in the sequel series Drug & Drop.

But why pick up this new collection of the first three

Etherial, boring and almost entirely pointless.

huh. i did see the reviews noting this is a proto-holic but i didn't realize how true that would prove to be. CLAMP is very obviously testing out some of the dynamics they'll improve on in xxxholic -- we've got the slashy bicker twins main characters, the episodic supernatural adventures, the shopkeeper who sends out our dynamic duo on said adventures...

anyways i think it's a bit unfair that i'm reading it now after xxxholic because xxxholic is substantially better and it's hard not to compare t

So in short, Legal Drug is about two young men who work together at some shop, for two older men. Even though the blonde one can find another job that doesn't require him to almost get killed on every business trip, he keeps his job. He lives with the black haired guy, who has a questionable past.
Basically they find magic items for their boss together, but because the main character always passes out, we never really get to see the action. The artists were probably lazy and underpaied.

It's not a bad story, I might be interested enough to buy part two, but the title and image of the cannabis leaf on the cover is misleading. There's no drug whatsoever, and it's not really even about the drug store (even though it's their "home base" [my words]).

Rather it's two teenager boys (upper high school age) with powers who work for two men who also have less obvious powers, and the different sections are basically the missions that they go on, with a little character development of cour

Legal Drug has got me hooked on CLAMP. Two dudes solving paranormal mysteries, all the while comical, over-the-top homoeroticism ensues. It’s absurd and I love it. The art is simple but beautiful and the pacing of each chapter is great. Because the cast of characters is so small, CLAMP is able to really focus on making all four of them vibrant.

Also, special shout-out to whoever did the translation/adaptation: you are my hero. Legal Drug has possibly the most natural-sounding and contemporary di

I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM. To see this on the shelf at the bookstore after it being out of print for years since TokyoPop went under? I almost died when I saw it facing out at me. I had never gotten a chance to read Legal Drug the first time it came out. I don't know why, but I never picked it up. So of course I grabbed it this time. I read it through in one sitting. It's a great story with fantastic characters and intriguing ideas. I want to know more about Kei and Tsukiko(?) and how ...more

Published by Dark Horse as an omnibus, I think in preparation for Drug and Drop, which they're releasing next year?

Read these from the Tokyo Pop run, although that was ages ago, so I can't even remember what happened. But I seem to remember that there used to be glossy pages in front, with translucent green paper? My roommate has a copy of Vol.3 and tells me that their copy didn't have the translucent green paper, though, so maybe it's just the first two volumes?

I kinda liked that green paper,

Si te gusta el ...more
Eh. It's... meh. I guess it's just not my thing.

It's super episodic but for the last story arc, and it feels super incomplete for the complete Legal Drug series (probably because it IS incomplete, but still).

I neither liked nor disliked the characters. I neither liked nor disliked the story. I guess I'm just generally ambivalent about this one.

Basically, if you really, really like CLAMP, especially their heavily homosexual romances, you'll like this one. Otherwise, you probably will just go "meh

Recommends it for: anyone
This omnibus contains volumes 1-3 of the now defunct Legal Drug Series. Luckily, they have restarted the series under the new title Drug and Drop, which makes no sense but whatever. The story follows two young men as they search for their missing sisters and solve supernatural mysteries along the way.

I really like this manga but you have to stick with it and continue to read it with Drug & Drop. The story line is very detailed and so is the art which is nice. I love Clamp's work in connecting story's together in some form or way, it's cute.

Reread before Drug & Drop. This is less good than I remember. Too much sub and not enough text.
