I purchased this book to read when I was on a trip to Thailand this past November. I wanted to study a different type of devotional-style book, and boy did I ever! This book could be used as a text book if it were printed in a different format, it's just THAT good.
The author touches on learning to pray - not just having a "git'r done" attitude, but to actually kneel and wait for God to give you the things He wants you to pray about..Actually being still and quiet, and having a conversation with...more

This is my all-time favorite book. Set up as 31 short chapters, it can be used as a daily devotional or just picked up and enjoyed whenever you need a spiritual lift. It has often sustained me through trials, and helped me to view things differently, knowing that God is in control and that trust, faith and patience in His perfect timing is all I need. But most of all, a great feeling of peace envelops me each time I read a passage.
again, they don't have my cover :/ it is from 1983
It has been said that it takes 30 days to change or add a habit.
If this is true and works for all, then we are basically renewing our minds to a new thing.
This book uses 31 chapters, which I laid out to read 1 a day for the month of October. As I was reading this I realized I was adding a principle of waiting on God to my mindset. The idea is WAITING, not expect it right away or before I need it, but wait on God for His perfect timing. This was...more

Aside from the Bible this book has had the biggest impact in my life. Our greatest place of safety is waiting for God. Our greatest challenge in the waiting is under estimating the blessings that God gives to us while we wait on Him - this book was life transforming for me...during the waiting my heart learned while I thought I was waiting for God to bless me with AB or C he was patient until I understood " He is my exceedingly great reward." I hear Him now even in the silence.

This book is skinny, but man, is there a lot of good information in it. It should be twice its size for the worth that pours out of it. For someone who is not patient by nature and tends to want everything NOWNOWNOW!, Murray offerred quite a bit of help.

I have been reading day 11 for about a week and a half- I just love Andrew Murray- I think I will be reading through this for the next several months, chewing on it, praying about it- so good!
I will definitely read this book again. I have already returned to it several times to read an entry which particularly touched me.
I am planning to read all of Andrew Murray's books.
