Jane
The late Leonard Nathan's quietly revelatory late books of poetry, brought out by Orchises Press, stay for me absolutely current, samurai-sword sharp. Each poem is 9 lines long--three three line stanzas. Each constitutes its world of pondered meaning and feeling. Nathan's images are quick meteors that throw off enough light to see by. Every time I read him I am freshly reminded of what poems can do, and freshly encouraged for the art.
