My thoughts on this series were originally all over the map, but after two strong back-to-back installments I’m no longer waffling. There were some parts of VEILED THREAT that chafed, namely Erik & Ophelia, not the characters themselves just their acquisition and I know that I’m beginning to sound like a broken record because Shannon Mayer increases the RYLEE ADAMSON secondary count by at least one per book however it still irritates me. Anyway, the answers and groun
Yup, Mayer didn't disappoint!

This really is one of the best series I've ever read!
I love everything about it but most of all I'm (continuing to be) shocked by the fact that it still surprises me and it doesn't bore me, not even a little bit, despite the fact that this was the 7th book already.
Yup, I'm off to the next one!

Another good book in the series. I really like Rylee she has a lot of spunk.. And Alex is one of my all time favorite characters.

It was awesome to finish Book 6 and move directly on to Book 7 - a far meatier read for me who can munch through a book this length in around 4 hours…

I was happy to see that the action started almost from the first page and didn't let up till the end. It was also wonderful to get further insight into how Rylee was supposed to be the saviour of the world - that was a left hook I didn't see coming but it was all the more poignant for its unpredictability and purity.

In this instalment, we see so mu

Definitely the darkest so far and that's saying something, but major things happened in this book and the character development is rather wonderful. Rylee is growing and learning and so are her team. We are nearing the end of the series now and the big bad is in sight but he's more than Rylee has ever fought before I have to say I spent a lot of this book with my heart in my mouth. I had adrenaline running through me just reading! As ever though it's the relationships between the characters that ...more

Book 7 introduces a few interesting new characters, one of whom claims to be Rylee's uncle. But there's little opportunity for family reunions, and Rylee has little time to figure out whom to trust as demons are tearing holes in the veil and Orion snatches Milly and Pamela down to the deepest level of the veil. They are her family, and she will do whatever it takes to bring them home.
Another great action-packed read, though it lacked a little of the deep emotional impact the last few books had o

3.5 stars. This was definitely an exciting read, but Rylee got on my nerves in this one. She came across as very rude and impetuous. Yeah, she definitely has her reasons for whining and complaining, but I wanted her to be just a little nicer to others. The ending set up an exciting story for Wounded (Rylee Adamson #8) by Shannon Mayer though, and it looks like my complaints may be less of an issue in upcoming books.
Book 7 and still going strong.

Another punch in the gut! Fabulous reading!

As we're drawn closer to the time of the Orion "event", creatures of different walks of life come together in a new way, leaving old wounds to heal another day. Maybe an extension of Rylee's "pack", but strong leaders who have pledged to stand with her to see the prophecy fulfilled. Rylee and her rag-tag team finish the job at hand & realize it only gets worse & the time has come..,

And yes, her name should have been Chaos!

Keeps the story moving

Well written, no boring parts to skip over. Some detail is lacking but that is the nature of the series. I will be purchasing the next book immediately. I'm still rooting for a happy ending.

So this book came as a complete surprise to me. I wasn't expecting to see another Rylee book till next yr, cuz 1 had just come out in March, I believe. This book was everything u'd expect from Rylee Adamson and I hope, beyond hope, that this character will be around for a while. Without a doubt, Rylee is 1 of my most favorite characters of all time. I hope when she's finally done battling Orion, that there will be more stories for Rylee.

I was in the middle of reading another book (actually I was 85% finished) when I saw this book had come out; I snatched it up (on my Kindle) and dove in that minute. I absolutely LOVE this series. I haven’t read anything else by this author because I am nervous it won’t be as good. That is silly! I am potentially missing out on some fantastic reading!

The Rylee Adamson series has quickly grown into one of my favorites. As the tensions build towards the inevitable battle between Rylee and Orion the fate of mankind is at stake. No where does the reader feel it more than in the seventh book, "Veiled Threat."

This time, Rylee and the gang work furiously to try to close the gates leading to the demon world. They must fight ever demonic creature imaginable including Recaps and ogres. Rylee attempts to get the ogres to side with her but their new lea

I cannot give more than 5 stars, if i could I would, I absolutely love this series. This book cannot really be read without knowing the whole story, so If you are new to this series, I suggest you pick up book 1 and enjoy the ride.

Rylee has taken a month off to spend with Liam in Europe where apparently Liam has had some meetings with the old werewolf Peter and the story picks up from this point. In this episode new characters are introduced in the form of a long lost uncle and his dragon, a nec

After a small break I just ripped through books 5-7 this week. While I still enjoy the characters, books 5 and 6 had me thinking "Okay, this is a little far-fetched now". Also just way too much intense drama without a break. But in Book 7 Shannon Mayer has pulled a lot of things together and shown some of the background as to why Rylee has to be the one to "save the world". She threw in some curveballs which I didn't see coming as well. So I am back to thoroughly enjoying the series and look ...more

Veiled Threat is book seven of the Rylee Adamson Novels by Shannon Mayer, where Rylee prepares to face Orion, and find some allies to help.

Milly and Pamela have been snatched by Orion, and Rylee will do anything possible to get them back. Even if it means trusting her out-of-the-blue Uncle Erik who mysteriously wanders back into her life riding her dead father's dragon, Ophelia.

Along the way, she has to determine how many of her allies will stand with her against the demon, and if that will be e

What I love most about Rylee is that the never ending responsibility of having to save herself, her friends, and the world makes her cranky. Most urban fantasy heroines try to be the better, compassionate person. Rylee doesn't give a shit. She acts just like any women under a lot of constant stress - direct, foul mouthed, and funny. Because so many allies have been lost in the past, Rylee rebuilds a new team in Veiled Threat. The relationship dynamics are fantastic, as new characters have to ...more

I have loved this series from the start, and now my problem is, how can I give a rating higher than 5 stars, which this book deserves. As Rylee evolves from Tracker of missing children to savior of humanity, she takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions. One minute she is standing toe to toe with ogres and cursing them out and the next she is touching fingertips with Liam in a tearful goodbye. The title tells the basics- there are tears in the Veil and demons are coming through. The real ...more

The author always leaves me wanting more.

Is this a standalone story? No! You really need to read all the books in this series to truly appreciate it. It's set in a fairly short time line so you need to start at the beginning and continue.

If you've read the other books in this series, you need to get this one immediately. (I like to share the pain of waiting! I wouldn't want others to wait til august to read this and the

Rylee Rocks!!!

The Rylee Adamson series has always been a thrill a minute and Veiled Threat is no exception. Rylee has always had a foul mouth, and that just makes her more appealing. IMHO. It's just her way.
Alex is coming into his own in this novel. And Liam's love is deeper than ever.
We meet a lot of new people and Supers in this book. Most are good. Some, not so much. But this is Rylee Adamson we're talking about. So yeah.

The series is going darker, which I don't care for but I have to see this to the end. Rylee, who has always been more concerned about her friends and allies than herself, has an enormous task....something like saving the world :O I mean, the girl can't even go get a mani-pedi.

There is a whole series of Rylee Adamson and I'll pretty much write the same review for each book. They are all good, exciting (never a break to the action; which creates a huge problem at 1am) and left me wanting the next
Nice set up for Wounded and now I'm gonna have to read it sooner rather than later! I had a few "I didn't see that coming" moments. And Rylee again learned some new tricks...she's gonna need them pretty soon I fear. I love it when an author can redeem a character you've hated throughout a series. Millie is now no longer on my s*&t list! What I love the most about these besides how fierce Rylee is, is the non stop action. You're on the edge of your seat the entire book and I think I'm gla

The pace for Rylee has been hectic. From losing Giselle and realising Milly didn't have her back to hiding from ogres, defeating red caps, running from giants, battling dragons and zombie kids to helping/hiding from guardians, rescuing shamans and fending off both Doran and Faris not to mention Will. Oh and let's not forget Death. It comes for everyone but her!
It's been a tough ride for Rylee. This book is no exception! She's amazing, how much can 1 person take? I love all the characters, the re

Sensational! I devoured this one in two reading sessions. Rylee Adamson has had me hooked from page one, I can't get enough of this series. Watching the evolution of Rylee has been intense. She has grown so much and she just keeps getting better.

The books are thrill rides that you don't want to end, yet you can't read them slow. The series is on a build and I can't wait for August to get my hands on the next one.
