Read my review in Booklist. I loved this rousing conclusion to the excellent Dragonback adventure series. It is terrific sf for adults, teens, and good middle grade readers.

Dragon and Liberator is the sixth and final book for the Dragonback series by Timothy Zahn. As Jack and Draycos get closer to the time when the K’da/Shontine main force is going to appear and where the advance scout is supposed to meet them. But with all the advance ships destroyed or taken by Neverlin and his Valhagua allies with their Death weapon that kills all beings it touches. But when they get there they are betrayed by Alison when she starts helping them but at the same time keeping them More...

Timothy Zahn is, by one specific unit of measure, my favorite author. That is, I own and have read over thirty of his books. That's more than any other author that I have read, though there are a few that approach that number. This is a skewed scale, obviously. Some authors haven't been writing as long as Zahn and some authors I just haven't known about for as long. Therefore I refer to Zahn by the moniker of a favorite author.

Dragon and Liberator is both a great book and a slightly More...

Okay; I am way, way, WAY behind on this thing. I'm taking advantage of a trip out of town to try and catch up, but I'm trying to catch up on a couple of other things as well. So, while I will do my best to provide you with my usual scintillating reviews, I will also apologize in advance if some of them seem a bit rushed.

On with the show.

Dragon and Liberator is the final volume in Timothy Zahn's Dragonback cycle, a six-book science fiction series aimed at young adults. I s More...

Strong ending to a good series. The ending of this book was a little long, and it didn't close, to my satisfaction one character (it closed enough, just I wanted a bit more of the one character I really liked and was used so well).

The series is a boy and an unexpected companion (plus others, along the way) that saves a race from genocide. He begins to understand what really is important to him, and who he could be, and does become. And he finds some things are worth dying for, and livi

The finale to the DragonBack series.
<spoiler>Jack and Draycos, along with others, save the fleet of immigrants and in the process figure out that a Human/K'da pairing are immune to the Death ray. All the badguys get defeated after much daring-do and Jack ends up as the Ambassador to the new colonists, who have been given a world by the rich guy, who turns out to be Alison's grandfather.</spoiler>

This was a good YA series. Fantastic Zahn.

Good book and a satisfying conclusion. A certain side character became a main character during the last couple books, and you finally find out her secrets this book. The ending is satisfying and this ties up pretty well when I feel most series have trouble with the endings. It may be a little too perfect, but it's not bad. This is definitely going on my recommended list at school. What a great series that had completely flown under my radar.

This whole series goes on my all-time favorite list. These books were short compared to some of the other fantasy series I've read, but in this case less was definitely more. The pace of these books and the situations were so good, it made it so I couldn't stop reading and that I physically shook because I felt so nervous about what happened. I had guessed Alison's secrets, but it was finally nice to have the official answers about her. I'd grown to like Jack and Draycos relationship so much and More...

Sixth and final book in the Dragonback series. Jack and Draycos, Alison and Taneem, are the only four beings preventing the destruction of the K'da, Shontine peoples. The evil Colonel Frost and businessman Neverlin plan to destroy the refugee fleet that is all that is left of Draycos's people for profit, and it is slim odds that any of them will survive.

I loved this series! I don't read science fiction as much as fantasy, but Dragonback was great! Draycos is my favorite character. The ending of this series was pretty satisfying, but I would be really happy if Timothy Zahn decided to write more.

this is one of the world greatest series.
every one should read it.
it has action, suspense, mystery, answers, dragons, convincing bad guys.
it also teaches good morals.
there is no big love story but thats okay since the characters are to young to do anything any way.
and it answers the questions in the end.
it is not a cliff hanger.
it is the coolest book I have read in a long time.
you should read it to.

An awesome conclusion to the Dragnback series! From start to finish it kept me turning pages, wondering what was going to happen next. The build up of the last 5 books was not let down by the amazing ending of Dragon and Liberator. Secrets revealed and truths told, dangerous adventure, and twisting counter maneuvers by all sides makes this installment hands down the best in the series!

This got a 5 from me where the rest of the series didn't, simply because it was such a well executed and thorough conclusion. I have spent a good deal of time with this series, and it's kind of bittersweet to have it end. It was a fitting finale, though, and a perfect sendoff for the K'da.

This book pulled everything together. Since the first book, I found it very interestign that there was a symbiotic relationship between humans and the dragons. I really enjoyed this series, especially the first one where everything is introduced. I love this author and this story line!

What a startling and perfect and unpredictable and suspenseful conclusion the complicated and thought-provoking Dragonback Adventures.
I'm SO glad Alison didn't turn out to be a traitor. It was interesting to see how much help Jack and Draycos had along the way.

I didn't buy the explanation for the Death weapon, especially against the human/K'da combo, but other than that, I really enjoyed this conclusion of the series.
