I have to admit that I liked this book more than I wish I did. I can't help it--I love rodeos!
The book follows a group of steer wrestlers around the rodeo circuit in 2004 as they all try to make the National Finals in Vegas. I grew up around cowboys and rodeos, but even I didn't know how insane the schedules of full-time cowboys are. They might drive from California to Denver overnight, just to spend 5 minutes in the arena, miss their steer, and head out to another rodeo somewhere e...more

Inspired by my first trip ever to a rodeo, I picked this up at the library. It's not that well-written, and the look into the lives of these steer wrestlers is pretty shallow. However, it's entertaining and the author doesn't get too in the way of the story of the cowboys. It's a little too fawning over the myth of the cowboy for my tastes, but I still enjoyed this quick read.
Filled with testosterone. On the road/rodeo circuit with real cowboys. Filled with profane, crazy, beer-soaked insanity. A quick read because you can't wait to see what these guys will do and go through next.
I have to say after reading the first 100pags I may never see Luke B. in the same light it wasn't the best read and no I don't reccomend to anyone

This book is great for taking you into the not so glamorous world for rodeo.
Inside look of some prominent bulldoggers on the NPRC circut.
This is a hilarious true story about life on the road as a cowboy. It follows some of my guy friends and tells WAY more than anyone really wants to know!
Excellent diary of what it's like to be a professional cowboy in the new millenium.
They totally grew on me. Can't help it, love them cowboys.
