I have to admit that I liked this book more than I wish I did. I can't help it--I love rodeos!

The book follows a group of steer wrestlers around the rodeo circuit in 2004 as they all try to make the National Finals in Vegas. I grew up around cowboys and rodeos, but even I didn't know how insane the schedules of full-time cowboys are. Inspired by my first trip ever to a rodeo, I picked this up at the library. It's not that well-written, and the look into the lives of these steer wrestlers is pretty shallow. However, it's entertaining and the author doesn't get too in the way of the story of the cowboys. It's a little too fawning over the myth of the cowboy for my tastes, but I still enjoyed this quick read.
Beau Smith
Filled with testosterone. On the road/rodeo circuit with real cowboys. Filled with profane, crazy, beer-soaked insanity. A quick read because you can't wait to see what these guys will do and go through next.

This is a hilarious true story about life on the road as a cowboy. It follows some of my guy friends and tells WAY more than anyone really wants to know!
