i read this book because it was a goodreads first read give-away. It's another book i probably wouldn't have picked up otherwise (sadly, wine gives me migraines). In the beginning, i was concerned that it might be trying too hard; i.e. using gratuitous foul language, or sexual references - but i was wrong. They weren't gratuitous, rather they were quite appropriate.

i really began to care deeply about the protagonist, although she and i couldn't be more different in many ways. She is (yes, i kno

The plot reminds me of something from a Tyler Perry film. It wasn't a romantic-comedy type story. The protagonist faces numerous struggles which she has to work through, therefore definitely not a light afternoon read- took me a few days. Although at first glance the writing appears predictable, the author does a commendable job at keeping the story unexpected with twists. Because the story is written by the protagonist in a journal format with entries by date, sometimes the plot seems bumpy.

I received a copy of this book as a FirstReads Giveaway and I'm so glad I did! The title of the book is what initially caught my attention but I really enjoyed all the adventures Kat took me on as she told her story.

The journal format made this book really easy to follow and the author's writing style gave me a really good glimpse into the lives of the characters. It wasn't your typical midlife-crisis book...yes, things went wrong and in the end some things were "righted" again but there were d

I received this book as an early release copy through good reads in exchange for my honest review.
If you've read one, you've read them all. This book is a classic midlife crisis scenario. The main character sets off to Mexico after finding out that her husband cheated on her, and after the death of her mother. There is nothing redeeming about any of the characters. They are not developed enough to really get a feel for who they are much less cheer for their victory. The story is written in jour

Author is intelligent, witty, and all around sassy. This was made evident in her writing style.

Characters are well rounded and relatable, story line excellently executed, and environments well described. All that said, I still found the book, story, and characters unbearably predictable more often than not.

I could see this book being turned into a movie, which I say not necessarily as a compliment. However, I did enjoy the book and author enough to read another book by her, as I can see her gr

For author Sherita Bolden, it all began many waterfalls ago (Pisces) when she wrote her first poem at the age of seven about a butcher, a rat and a piece of cheese. It wasn’t until early adulthood when she rekindled her romance with writing and wrote children stories for her first animal (son) Baer. This love affair with the pen eventually blossomed into full blown lust for writing adult fiction.
