This was a fun, sweet and romantic read. This is one of those books that are a great escape from real life. I loved that John and Vanessa where successful in sticking to what they love to do career wise. The only problem with both of them was their own brand of drama from the past that is holding them back from being happy. I loved watching their connection to each other grow as well as heal each other to get past the issues. I thought that this book was unique, fun and an overall great book. Hi ...more

The Last-chance Maverick we see a lot of familiar characters if you been reading along. It can stand alone no problem.
I admit it got my emotions going in a couple of places. You might need a hankie too. I did like Vanessa. We learn a lot about her history and Jonah's.

Vanessa is teaching the kids art. She paid for all the supplies too. She has not painted for over a year personally. When she is offered to paint a wall in the new resort. Vanessa has a bucket list she is working on.

Excellent and emotional story of two wounded souls. Jonah has returned to Rust Creek Falls for an extended stay after eight years away. He left because of the bad memories caused by the end of his marriage and has made only short visits home since then. He has made quite a name for himself as an architect and has the job of designing the new resort being built in town. Now that it's almost done, he is here to take care of any last minute problems that come up. He's not real happy to discover tha ...more

I am a new fan to the Montana Mavericks and am reading ever book written to celebrate 20 years of publication. The Last-Chance Maverick does a great job extending the series.

I loved Vanessa and Jonah. Both have been very successful in their careers. While Vanessa is very strong she has lost one of her anchor points and is in Rust Creek trying to recover. Jonah left Rush Creek after a very bad marriage and hates to come back. Now they are both working on the renovation of the lodge and their path

"The Last-Chance Maverick" by Christyne Butler is an enjoyable, quick read. I couldn't put this story down. You'll enjoy this story of the continuation of the series 'Montana Mavericks: 20 years in the Saddle.'

We start off the book with Vanessa Brent. She moves to Rust Creek Falls, Montana after her best friend who passed away from Cancer. Her mother also died from Cancer and she is looking for a new start to her life as an artist. Her art has been her life since she was a teenager but since the

"Butler’s heartfelt tearjerker exhilarates. Her expressive narrative tells the fateful tale of her lovelorn hero and grieving, talent-blocked heroine’s rocky road to love. The first kiss is sensational, the banter playful and the love scenes intense" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars).
