A gripping and haunting tale about a middle-aged man coming to terms with his childhood and with his relationship to his family (past and present).
The mechanism of the story is rather classical and will remind one of Back to the Future or Coppola's film Peggy Sue Got Married (there may even be a reference to the latter in the book dedication in the end), but Jiro gives a fresh take on the genre by focusing on the possibility of personal change.

Cela faisait une éternité que je voulais lire Quartier lointain, j'en avais tellement entendu parler. J'ai beaucoup aimé les dessins, le style, mais j'ai été un peu déçue par l'histoire, je pense que je m'attendais à autre chose...
interessante japanischer Comic, der nicht so hektisch gestaltet ist, wie normale Mangas. Macht schön anschaulich, wie es in japanischen Familien so zugeht...
Un manga magnífico. Intimista, inocente (pero no demasiado), muy bien llevado. Una obra maestra. Son 400 páginas y se pasan volando.
Fantastisk sød, sjov og tankevækkende historie med virkelig fine tegninger. Læser sjældent tegneserier, men denne var absolut værd at læse.

Impresionante. Tanto el guión como el dibujo. La imaginación de muchos autores japoneses, y Taniguchi en particular, es sorprendente. Uno de mis favoritos.

belle più le ambientazioni che i personaggi, spunti poco originali o addirittura poco credibili, bella la tematica centrale ma il risultato finale mi è parso non finito. ma forse è solo che non sono abituata a questa levità tutta giapponese.
Universel& terriblement poignant. La BD européenne fait bien pâle figure à côté de ce chef d'oeuvre.

En fantastisk flot manga med fine detaljerede tegninger og en god lille historie. Kan kun anbefales, ikke kun til tegneseriefans, men også til de der bare kan lide en god bog med en god fortælling.
Eine großartige gezeichnete und spannend erzählte Geschichte.
Heel mooi verhaal... spreekt tot de verbeelding!
