I skimmed this one as a comparison for my own work interest. She is coach of more then a decade. She works from a very "scientific method" mode; if the five senses are not involved neither is she.
Starting here she moves into talking about things like "abundance,""manifestation,""intuition" with out using any of these words. So it is informative and wordy at times due to not wanting to use any spiritual key words to thus sound more business-lik...more

I am a huge fan of Martha Beck and feel as if she is one of the most emotionally intelligent writers out there. Although some may find this book a little "new agie", I was fascinated by the insights here. The tools she includes in all of her books are helpful to mining out your "true self" but this one was my favorite. A magical yet pragmatic book on learning to live a life of pure joy.

I'm always looking for self-enlightenment. This particular book was recommended by a friend. I did enjoy the read. The author presents the material very nicely and doesn't talk down to the reader. I felt the book helped to reinforce and remind me of things I already knew and had implemented. It also gave me some new things to think about and work on.

It's a decent book if you are doing some soul-searching and have a good threshold for words like "destiny" and "stargazer" etc.

I want to get back to this book after some time away from it. I enjoyed Beck's writing, and found a lot of her excercises and ideas to be helpful. I am probably too sensitive to the needs of change to really benefit from her suggestions at this point, because I want instant gratification.

I wasn't able to finish this book. I think it is an interesting book, but I have too much self help on my hands right now and can't focus on the exercises the way I would like to. I am not a self help book reading kind of person, so in some ways I can't believe I even attempted to read it. I think that there are some excellent exercises. They seem to be easy, but when I tried them, they were harder than I thought.

recommends it for:
Spirit Seekers
Martha Beck has a great sense of humor and some really valuable advice about getting in touch with the parts of ourselves that we have essentially squelched. I found Finding Your Own North Star to be a more useful book in terms of figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, but Steering has some good points to keep in mind about fear, making change and being true to yourself. I'd recommend it.

recommends it for:
some one looking for guidance on which path to take in life
This audio book was easy to listen to and gave some good advice on how to find your true path in life. The author is a graduate from Harvard business school but has turned into a life coach whom takes the reader on a path which is a bit mystical. She has some fun excercises, examples, and quotes to support her beliefs to help the reader on his/her path.

Fascinating. A guide to your life. A reminder of the interconnectedness of us all, with wonderful stories to demonstrate. More geared to the mature folks who have gone deeper than find the right career or the right relationship. The parentheses around our every day lives. If you want to see how far this woman has come, read her earlier books.

I am giving this as gifts for Christmas to all my amazing friends so don't buy it yet. She is a contributing editor with Oprah and on the show.. very much like "The Secret" but has actual exercises inside where you apply to your own life. I felt so refreshed after reading this on a long plane ride home. Love it!

I listened to this book on tape. It was really wonderful to hear Martha Beck read the book herself. She is so smart in communicating how to make such important changes and to do such important work. I will purchase the book for my own library.

I gave up finishing this, I'm already living my Right Life and even my love of Martha could not keep me interested in this one.

Like Martha Beck's other books, this is a very wise and funny book. Taken with a few grains of salt, very satisfying.

Martha Beck is my kind of writer! Down to earth and funny. Steering by Starlight so far is wise and full of great ideas.
