Unexpected Consequences

As a powerful Dallas oil executive, planning is what Lizzie Baron does best. But she certainly didn't plan on getting pregnant following one memorable night after a rodeo in Fort Worth. Now she needs to figure out how she's going to raise a baby with a man she barely knows.

Aspiring bronc rider Chris Miller always hoped he'd see Lizzie again, though n

3 AND A HALF STARS!

I received this book for free through GoodReads First Reads, having won the giveaway contest for it, and I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty excited to see it in the mail today and dropped everything to read it.

It was very enjoyable for the most part. It's only 218 pages altogether so the action is very fast paced, and I thought Donna Aylward did a good job with establishing a credible connection between the two main characters within those pages. It also helps to keep the story

I really enjoyed this book. Lizzie is the oldest of a big family. She is always the one that takes care of everyone. She has always been the responsible one. Her family owns a big company with her dad being the president of it. In her eyes he has always been bigger than life. Lizzie works for the company too. The whole family comes together when her dad has a accident, and ends up in the hospital. It is Lizzie that steps up to be president of the company in her father's absent.

Very good book. Lizzie is the oldest in her family, and the one who plans everything in her life. She has one night when she wants to cut loose a little and ends up with Chris for one memorable night. A few weeks later she discovers she's pregnant and goes looking for him. She's independent and quite capable of raising the baby on her own, but figures he has the right to know. Chris hadn't forgotten her, and had hoped he would get a chance to see her again. He is stunned by the news, but adjusts ...more

I loved this story, it has a strong female who stand up for what she believes in along with a strong male who is a stand up man. This was a clean read with lots of love and care given to this story. This book teaches us that we should always look deep at our true feelings, never take things at face value. Things are not always as they seem.

You have a one night stand they never planned on seeing each other again. Faith has other plans for Lizzie and Chris they are about to become parents. Neither

The Texan's Baby is a nice romance story. I believe it is a start of a new series with a bunch of writers each writing a book in the series.

Lizzie Baron is the oldest child of Brock Baron. She has sisters and a full brother, 2 adopted brothers and a half brother. Lizzie works in the family oil company with her father. She is a vice President. She is also pregnant from a one night stand. She does not need anything from the father but she also feels she needs to track him down.

I want to preface this by saying that I normally like Donna Alward's books which is why I picked up this one despite it having a plot I'm not terribly fond of: The Oops-We-Did-It-Once-And-Now-I'm-Knocked-Up plot.

I ended up quitting at about the 50% mark. Mostly because I was uninterested in the characters, personally, and also I was unmoved by the set-up of the continuity series. I have enjoyed continuity books before in the Harlequin universe, but the dynamics here just didn't grab me. Also the

Condoms are never 100% percent child proof which is what Lizzie Baron has been telling herself lately. Yet for one night she didn’t care she just wanted Chris Miller’s passionate kisses. She’s been betrayed once and now that she is acting president for her father’s company she needs to protect her heart from men especially from Chris’s. Now Chris has never thought of any other woman after that one night but never expected Lizzie to come b

He was bothered especially by the fact that he should be more upset about it than he was. And yet he wasn’t. Somehow being here tonight, with a pastry box of tiramisu, felt strangely inevitable.

I loved both Lizzie and Chris. Lizzie is a strong woman that just needs to escape all the pressure of being a Baron and to forget her family’s expectations, especially her dad’s, so she does forget it for one night with… Chris. I have to say I really liked the way the book sta

The Texan’s Baby is a great start to a new series. The Barons are a blended oil family with enough children to keep the series going for quite a few books. The series starts out with Lizzie Baron, the oldest daughter and the one who loves the oil business. She is smart, driven and has had some bad experiences with men. Chris Miller has taken a year off to follow the rodeo and decide where he really wants to work.

Their one nightstand leaves Lizzie pregnant. I loved how they reacted to the pregnan

In The Texan’s Baby by Donna Alward, Lizzie Baron is the eldest child of Brock Baron, she has her sisters and a brother, plus two adopted brothers and a half-brother. While she may be the eldest and is currently the vice president at Baron Oil, her father wants her brother to take over the company, regardless of the fact that he is not interested in the business.

After going to see her brother ride at the rodeo, Lizzie needs some time to herself and heads to the bar. She just wants a little time

For once I actually managed to pick up a review book that is the first in a series!

On that note, this is very obviously the first in a series, with lots of future storylines introduced. However, with most of the focus of the book on the two main characters, this isn’t an issue that is going to annoy you.

I’m not usually a big fan of any of the three main features of this story: cowboys, pregnancy and rich Texans. Yet in this book I quite liked reading about all three. Wha

Lizzie is the eldest child in the Brock Baron Clan. She is the responsible child. No one would expect that she is pregnant from a night spend with Chris Miller whom she met at a rodeo. She doesn’t need anything from her but she feels that he have the right to know about his child. Chris is on a year leave to focus on the rodeo (something that he is passionate about) before he is too old to do it. He was surprise with the pregnancy news but nevertheless, he wants to be with Lizzie and he have no ...more

I enjoyed The Texan's Baby. I haven't read Harlequin American Romances in quite some time, but I loved this one. I laughed, I cried when Lizzie had a crisis with her pregnancy. I rejoiced at the end when Lizzie and Chris found their happily ever after. It is a perfect story, and I'm in love with cowboys all over again.

This tale of an after-effect of a one-night stand starts simply and gets more complex. Lizzie slept with Chris after a rodeo and discovers that she's having the bronc rider's baby.

Chris is an engineer for a firm which specialises in alternative energy. He only rides rodeo for a hobby. Lizzie works for her family's oil firm. Their jobs become an increasingly large part of the story once the personalities have been explored and Chris has met Lizzie's family. Neither of them was looking for a relat

Honestly, more like 2.5 stars because Chris wasn't a terribly well-developed leading man. I'm rounding up, though, because I liked Lizzie a lot, it's a good beginning to the series, and it was a sweet, light read--just perfect for a sick day.

I do wish Goodreads allowed half stars... this would be 3 1/2 stars.
A decent romance, unplanned pregnancy plot. It didn't grab me at first, and took a while to get into, but ended well.

While bestselling author Donna Alward was busy studying Austen, Eliot and Shakespeare, she was also losing herself in the breathtaking stories created by romance novelists like LaVyrle Spencer, Judith McNaught, and Nora Roberts.
