That was just what I needed, a nice relaxing book that was entertaining and unstressful. I'd say this was a pretty solid Voyager novel. The plot deals with several members of the crew getting abducted and held in a prison camp. That plot serves basically as a framing story, since most the book is devoted to fleshing out the background stories of the main characters. The author already filled in Janeway's life story in her book Mosaic. Also The Doctor & Seven were excluded because they don't...more

From the opening page this book is ridiculous and pathetic - a great disappointment! Half the crew of Voyager beam down to spend some R&R on an unscouted planet while the ship goes off on a trading mission in another system. The crew left on the planet is captured an enslaved in a camp where no one does anything except try to loo...more

A wonderful look at the characters who made Voyager what it was and how they came to be both on Voyager and who they are. I loved it. I don't think the plot of the story was necessary though. I would have enjoyed it if it were just straight biographies too.
Judith Paterson
It's a collection of short stories linked by a narrative about the away teams imprisonment in a dreadful camp. The stories are back-stories for many of the main characters. It really works - many of Star Trek genre short story collections are unsatisfying, but not this one. Greadat f

Everything you may have hated about 'Voyager' is within these pages. I seem to recall it was written after Jeri Taylor left the show. She will not have a career as an author.

The Voyager crew gets abducted by the Subu & placed in their Prison camp. The whys of this is never explained. To pass the time Chakotay, Harry, B'Elanna, Tom, Neelik/Kes, & Tuvok share their life story before Voyager & meeting a remarkable woman/Captain named Kathyrn Janeway.I liked reading about how every1's life went in a different direction when they met Cpt. Janeway :)

Not as good as Mosaic but still worth reading. I found the overall story somewhat draggin though.

I haven't seen enough of Voyager to know if the characters were accurately described, but I enjoyed their stories quite a bit.

I liked Voyager more after reading this. Good job revealing the characters.

I recommend this to any Star Trek Voyager fan. It tells the stories of the senior crewmembers path to Voyager. It's interesting to find out how some of your favorites characters got to be who they are. A great book.

Not quite as good as Mosaic since there are more characters to focus on, and the plot is rather unimportant. But it's still Voyager, and I still enjoyed it.

This is a decent read but not 100% factual. Other books contracdict this one so a detail oriented reader may have trouble reading this book.

Taylor gives us some beautiful backstories of our favorite characters. Very captivating and broad in its scope.
Sarah
This is another good life lessons from other characters.
