With anything that Harlan Coben writes, you expect certain things:
- A frenetic pace
- Strong characterization
- Plot twists and surprises
- An engaging story that makes it hard to put the book down.
This novel had all the above and more. The book is one of his best, making you identify with the frantic parents of the missing child and see snippets of what is happening with the teenager throughout the story.

What can I say? I love the way he writes even if I'm not crazy about the story... which I wasn't. To be honest, I'm biased. I've been a fan of his Myron books since long before he started the stand-alone books and nothing compares to Myron.
That said, this was good, not great. The story is about parents who install spyware to check on their teenage son who has been withdrawing. Interwoven is the story of two murders which seem to be unrelated but which, of course, are very related. By t...more

This is my first Harlan Coben book - I just met him at the LA Times Festival of Books, and he was a hoot.
This book is a page-turner, light, and grabbed me from the first page. It was cool at the end the way everything and everyone came together in various ways. And it touches on raising children, particularly teens, and how you need to take care of them the best you can, but find that balance of letting them have their freedom as well.

No one. Just like the author
this is one of the better Coben thrillers for those of you who like his style. In this one he weaves a bunch of subplots that of course finally come together preposterously at the end. However, if you suspend your disbelief, you will enjoy trying to figure out the puzzles he presents. As usual the pages turn faster and faster as the denouement is reached. The characters are loosely drawn as alsways but interesting. For those of you with teenage sons or preteen daughters, Coben has some very perc...more

Another mystery/thriller by Harlan Coben, although not as exciting as his earlier thrillers. In fact, i have found his last 4 novels (The Innocent, Promise Me, The Woods and Hold Tight) lacking.
As with the previous 3 books, Hold Tight was formulaic, boring and riddled with improbable coincidences; so much so, that i was tempted to just jump to the ending.
i probably won't spend the money on another Coben book. Sorry, but if a thriller is boring, well, then it's not what i paid for

Coben's recent books have been kind of the antithesis to cosies, stories of fairly typical urban life that has gone amuck in only smallish ways that have huge and disastrous consequences. He is also growing increasingly adept at charting life using such commonplaces as email and cellphones, twisting them into his plot devices. In this one, the issue of holding tightly to children runs up against just how far a parent can or should go to monitor and control.

In some ways this Coben's best yet. Much better than The Woods, which was a bit of a disappointment.
There are several different threads in the plot, which keeps the story exciting and suspenseful. All of the threads come together a little too neatly in the end, which is Coben's trademark, I suppose. He takes you for a fantastic ride and knows how to keep you reading without stopping! Great escape reading.

Man, i was actually very disappointed in this book. the entire time, I felt like I was reading a book by Jodi Piccoult instead of the tight, well constructed mysteries I've come to expect from Coben.
Even good authors turn out a bad book on occassion, so I won't give up on him, but I'm not really going to recommend this one to my friends.

I love all of Harlan Coben's novels! He has never disappointed me, and this book is no exception. Many twists and turns. It was great how he brought the two plotlines together in the end. I really enjoyed it! Now I'm just hoping he writes another Myron Bolitar novel soon. Always looking forward to the next Coben novel.

Harlan Coben can't be beat if we're talking about fast-paced action and storyline. That said, his newest book is not as fast-paced in the beginning as some of his previous books but his characters are interesting, as always, and the plot picks up and takes off as it all comes together. This is an enjoyable read!

I couldn't put this book down. I only read one other book of his, The Woods, which I loved also. He's become one of my favorite authors. I have three more books of his to read that I bought at the Dollar Bookstore. Karen - Peggy and I should take you to the Dollar Bookstore - every hardcover book is $1.00.

Not his best. If it had been the first I'd read, it would probably have been the last...too much of a rambling plot, and then when all the threads *finally* come together, it's just weak and kind of stupid. I'll read his next book based on how well I liked his previous ones, not this one.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a fast paced suspence story. This one involves teenagers getting in trouble too deep to handle, parents who are trying to protect their kids but losing them none the less, and doctors struggling with ethical questions. A quick read and very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed Coben's latest book. It was a page turner that I couldn't put down. It made me think what I would do to protect my kids. I was able to predict a couple of the "suprise" endings, but he always has so many great twists that I can never figure everything out.

I thought that it was extremely boring in parts, with a storyline that I just couldn't get into. That said, I still like Coben's writing style and will continue to read his stuff. We're all allowed to produce something less-than-great every once in a while.

So far, so good. Couldn't put it down last night - and I know when I'm willing to miss sleep over a book - it's a keeper!
This book rocked - as far a gripping, page-turning, fun mystery goes. It was refreshing to read among my mother reads as late.

I think I would have rated this higher if I hadn't read all of his other books. He is very good at writing about this particular sort of world but it seemed as though these were pretty much old characters in disguise. Nothing really new here

A quick read (as in hard to put down), like all Coban's books. What would you be willing to do to keep your child safe? Several story lines all converge in the end but at times there are just too many people to keep track of.
