Yes, yes, I was one of those twentysomethings who subscribed to Martha Stewart Living magazine straight out of college, tearing out recipes and scrapbooking them like precious family photos. It's no great surprise, then, that I'm delighted to be rid of those greasy pages in favor of this professional, tape-free collection of cookie recipes. And unlike some greatest hits compilations, this one actually includes all of my favorites.

I don't make a habit of reviewing cookbooks, but this one must be shared. There are 175 mouthwatering cookie pictures that make you want to bake every single one of them! The photographic table of contents is fantastic! It's divided into types of cookies (Light and Delicate, Soft and Chewy, Crumbly and Sandy, etc) with photographs of each cookie. This book is wonderful in it's visuals but the cookies themselves were not my favorite. There are photos to go with every cookie so you'll know how it should look when it comes out of the oven. It's very diverse in the options of traditional cookies and bars which is nice. Nothing too off the wall in here and everyone I think I've tried in one shape or another.

This cookbook is beautiful. There are pictures of every single recipe: YES every single one. Thank goodness. It also describes specific procedures in detail with additional photos where needed, which is much more detailed than Martha's website (yes, we're on a first name basis.) Speaking of her website, this is the reason it didn't get 5 stars from me. These recipes are on her website and in her magazines...I recognized quite a few. So it really isn't new, original information, just grouped

Wow, this is as close to perfection as I can imagine a baking book. I got this from the library and then bought it, and then sent my other cookie books to a thrift store.
You can tell that these cookies have been tested very thoroughly. I have made about eight of the recipes, some of them multiple times, and they always turn out as described. Even so, there are very sophisticated cookies in this book, the kind that will have people asking you to bake more months later. Some cookies ar More...

Made a batch of snickerdoodles from the recipe in this book, and they owned! Many of the recipes featured are rather simple, which is great for those of us who don't want to hunt out some obscure ingredient or shell out oodles for a particular thing you'll only wind up using once. The photos in the book are pure cookie porn, and although I currently have this book checked out from the library, I think I need to get my own copy.

I'm SO not a baker, but even I'm mesmerized by this cookbook. Gorgeous photographs and mouth-watering ideas.
A bunch that caught my eye on a flip-through: Gingersnap palmiers. Cream cheese pinwheels. Cornmeal thyme cookies. Cashew caramel cookies. Whole wheat date bars. Oatmeal applesauce cookies. Chewy molasses crinkles. Apricot windows. Pistachio lemon drops. Iced hermits. Hazelnut orange shortbread. Maple pecan shortbread. Lime meltaways. Bourbon currant cookies. Rocky Ledge bars w More...

As with any truly great cookbook, there is a picture of every recipe. I especially like the feature in the front where you can see a small picture of every cookie in the chapter. Then there are pictures within the chapter of the cookies on display or cleverly packaged for gift-giving.
I haven't made any of the cookies yet (that's this weekend's project), but I plan on copying out all the ones that look good before taking it back to the library. Most of the recipes don't interest me More...

I LOVE Martha Stewart. Her awkward personality and need to be perfect intrigue me. Ever since I was a child and I would watch Martha's holiday specials with my mother I had a fascination with the Do-It-All Queen. I came across the Martha Cookie cookbook about a year ago when I took it out from my library. Within the week I baked four of the cookie recipes. Being the cheap-o that I am I wrote down my favorite recipes, bringing them out for every get-together at my parents. My mom and dad LOVE the

I love the layout of this book. Usually, a big book of cookie recipes can be impossible to navigate, but not this book.
It has the cookie recipes divided up by the following categories:
Light & Delicate
Chunky & Nutty
Crisp & Crunchy
Soft & Chewy
Cakey & Tender
Rich & Dense
Crumbly & Sandy
Not only that, but the table of contents is a full page photo spread of each of the cookies in their categories so you can totally avoid the Crumbly & Sandy s More...

When I saw this book at the library, I knew I had to check it out and I thought I wanted to buy it. I took it home and I loved looking at the pictures. It is beautifully laid out. I contemplated asking for it for Christmas, but thought I'd better try some recipes first.
I'm glad I did. I tried several recipes. They all either turned out 1)looking great and tasting bad or 2)looking bad and tasting great. None turned out as I'd hoped.

Every recipe I've made from this book thus far has been brilliant. I've only been making vegan versions, though-- I can't imagine how far out scrumptious the dairy filled treats are.

My favorite character on Sesame Street has always been cookie monster. I'm a serious addict. A friend reviewed this cookie cookbook and said the chapter of contents alone did it for her. I have to admit, the chapter of contents is genius. I checked this out from the library before I bought it because I haven't had the best luck with Martha's ultra precise and exotic ingredient-ed recipes--but after trying four different cookies--I was in love! I swear each cookie was absolutely perfect and delic

I got this in a magazine form at first and had a love afair with it. Once my husband even threw it out and I made him dig it out of the garbage can covered in cat litter and clean it off. When it came out as a book I was thirlled. The organization is fantastic. Picture index in front and divided according to crunch, chewy, etc. It's perfect. Plus the cookies, although complicated sometimes and using non typical things, come out amazing. I get by far the most compliments on cookies out of this bo

I have a collection of cookie cookbooks and I purchased this one right before the holiday cookie-baking season. The layout of this book is wonderful and very pleasing to the eye. There are photos of every cookie with the recipe, and even the table of contents guides you with photos and cookie categories. I made at least six of the recipes so far and all resulted in excellent cookies. Some are easy and some are more complicated, but overall I think this book is great for anyone who considers them

I love Martha Stewart INC cookie recipes! Some of my favs are in here - italian polenta cookies, I'm looking at you.
I gave it 5 stars because the index consists of PICTURES OF THE COOKIES, names, and page numbers, and the book is divided into COOKIE TEXTURE for chapters. How genius is that?
I tried these new recipes:
Chocolate Ginger brownies - delish
Lemon bars - too sweet, but very lemony
Chocolate black pepper cookies - also with espresso, yum. and ea More...

If you love to bake or love eating cookies you will love this book. Rory deemed it "cookie porn" because of all the amazing pictures - including a picture of each cookie in the table of contents.
I was a little worried when I first received it because I thought all the recipes would be either really complicated or need a bunch of exotic, expensive ingredients. Although there are a few recipes fitting that description, the majority are accessible. I recently tried the ch More...

I don't care about your opinion of Martha Stewart. It's not of interest to me and totally irrelevant to how awesome this cookie book is. In addition to the numerous easy-to-replicate cookie recipes, there is a photo of every cookie in the book at the front, sorted into categories like crunchy r bars so you can scan by sexiness, style, or whatever it is that makes you decide what kind of cookie you want to bake. My only gripe is a small one-- it's a softcover, which makes it a little hard to stay

Such a winner! Every cookie has been stunning, except for one (the sugar cookies - and to be fair, she SAID they were "crispy and crunchy" so I shouldn't have expected them to be soft and chewy. But I did. And they weren't.). The cappuccino chocolate bites, the chocolate pepper cookies, the earl grey tea cookies, the meringues, biscotti, thumbprints...all winners. Ooh la la! I think I will be using this cookbook for many years (and cookies) to come.

This is definitely a huge collection of cookies from Martha Stewart. I like to bake, but a lot of these recipes where extremely involved. Many did not work well or did not save for any more than a few days for me. Some were too sticky too keep and ended up being a tasty mess. There are a few keepers for the casual baker, but I suggest to be prepared for a day dedicated to baking for the more involved recipes. Children free for a concentrated effort.

i read this quickly at the bookstore. happy there were photos for all the cookies. I need photos for cookbooks and craft books! Good recipes- fairly straightforward, can amend them to suit your liking- not too complicated. I needed a recipe for meringues and she had it- also for chocolate meringues. Also liked the sweet cardamon crackers, and honey graham cracker recipe. Excited to try them out- will post an update on the end results!

I am in love with almost every recipe in this book, and I haven't baked not a one yet.
According to the librarian that checked the books out for me, a friend of hers said there are errors in here. I guess I'll find that out as I test them. But as of right now, I desperately want to own this cookbook. So I'll give it 4 stars for inspiration, and if I test the recipes and they're good, we'll bump it up to 5.

I generally rate and review cookbooks after working through several recipes just to have a fair perspective. I made a lot of cookies from this book over the holidays, and everything was delicious. I also like that there are recipes here that are unexpected and slightly exotic. For example, I went through a tea cookie phase because there's a recipe for earl grey tea cookies in here (I used all kinds of different flavored teas for a variety of flavor profiles).

This is a nice book with recipes for a wide variety of cookies. I liked how the recipes were grouped according to texture (eg. crumbly, soft & chewy, etc.) and how the table of contents had pictures of every cookie. The book also covers all skill levels. Some are really easy while others seem a bit more complicated. I don't usually bake, but all the recipes I've tried so far have turned out well.

I picked this up at the library for a couple dollars, the binding is falling apart...it has been "loved," as the librarians say. Another girl there borrowed it at Christmas, made a couple recipes and said they turned out great.
The recipes look great, well put together, lovely pictures. Recipes go from simple to reasonably fancypants and complex. I know I'll be returning to this one quite a bit.
Definitely worth checking out and trying one or two recipes.

I own this book and I have yet to make something out of it. Everything looks delish, the downfall to this book is a lot of the cookies must be eaten in a day or so which a lot of times we aren't gobbling everything down the same day. I wanted to use some of these for my Christmas baskets especially the Candy Cane stripped cookies but the shelf time is too short.

My favorite cookie made the cover, which is why I purchased the book, but really the whole thing is divine. The photos are large enough to produce drool from the reader and most of the recipes sound tasty enough to devour without hesitation. The only thing missing that would have made the book complete are Martha Stewart's Black Bottom Coconut Bars.

I've only tried a couple recipes so far, but I have to give it 5 stars if only for the Grammy's Chocolate Cookies recipe. One of the best chocolate cookies I've ever had and I baked it :)
My only complaint is that my cookies are coming out flat and I'd like them to be a little thicker. I didn't see a troubleshooting section in the book.

Loved the photo key of all the cookies in the book at the front.
The helpful tools and tips has helped me make better cookies.
Lots of cookies I'll probably never make because I don't like them crisp or sandy, more of a soft and chewy or cakey sort of person. But still think the cookbook is awesome even if I don't use all the recipes.
