You will quickly learn to decipher a thick Scottish brogue in Rhythm and Blues, and thoroughly enjoy doing so. It’s a love story about a former bad boy musician who meets the woman of his dreams after a freak motorcycle accident.

There are parts that will make you clutch at your heart because the inner workings of Lurch’s mind are so sweet when he thinks about a possible life with Cate. He’s torn over his bad boy past, and worried he’s not good enough for the young and beautiful green-eyed red he

This is the third book I've read in this series based around the fictional Bushmaster band. Although my firm favourite remains, Wired for Sound, which introduced me to Hamish and Lori and the rest of the band, this book is a charming read about love and friendship. The characters are well developed and distinctive, and though its been several months since I read North by Northeast I had the cosy feeling of returning to old friends.
Hamish and Lori are now fully settled in the Scottish Highlands.

The Scots are famous for their long-standing feuds so when I discovered such a feud in this one, I was nicely surprised that it didn't involve any Scots at all but the American visitor, Lurch whose past he'd prefer to keep hidden. Really loved the Scottish dialect and in particular the initial fish out of water element when Lurch meets Hamish and Lori and of course the fiery Cate with whom he falls instantly in love with and (so romantic) refuses to leave Scotland without. Once they all come ...more

Although born in New Orleans, I am proud to call myself an Alaskan. I have lived here for 37 years, I have lived through -40 degrees, hauled water, made bear bacon and live in a cabin. I have used a fish wheel to catch salmon coming up the Copper River. I was my second husband's chief mechanic's helper and only roadie. I have cut firewood on shares, worked as a cocktail waitress, then as a ...more
