Barry Grimes was a schoolteacher and this book is centered around the theme of students, teachers, learning. I like the book, but as poetry it caught me off guard. Many--most--of the poems are comprised of short sentences. In fact, some lines contain two sentences. They don't flow down the page and they don't seem lyrical. It's as if one were writing/reading a primer (again the school theme). I haven't read much prose poetry and I wonder if this might be an introduction to it. Heck, with my jour ...more

I'm mixed about this collection. There are some outstanding poems & more that I felt indifferent about.
