Hal ini dianggap men...more

Paul Brenner basically works for the Army's version of IAB. He is asked to work on a sensitive case. The general's daughter was killed. She was found naked, spread-eagle in the rifle range, staked to tent pegs. In addition to the delicate nature of the crime, Brenner has to partner up with an ex-lover. Together, they work on the case, slowly uncovering the truths hidden by an entire military base, and then some...

I am so glad that I read this book before I saw the movie, as it was so much better. The story is about the body of a girl who is found bound and naked on the firing range of an army base. To make matters worse she is the daughter of The General. The case is passed on to Paul Brenner and Cynthia Sunhill who have to try and solve it without going outside of the armies rules and regulations. This becomes quite difficult when they stumble across corruption and the daughters secret life. The book mo...more

Book Rating: R This book was impossible for me to put down, but it describes a very graphic crime that turned my stomach and is etched in my memory. It still haunts me. A book I began, and when the plot was too much, I continued to read because I was so engrossed in it. But I will not read it again.
I was not surprised when it was made into a movie and rated R because it was so graphic. It was a very interesting story and I would recommend it to someone who is not turned off by this kind...more

A very good story. Difficult to put down. A general's daughter is found dead on the training grounds - staked to the ground and naked. An Army investigate and team work through the evidence, taking the many turns and many character along the way with seemingly none of the them being what they seem (including the victim). Everyone has something to be uncovered, complicating the case. The crime is graphic and mature.

If you're only going to read one Nelson DeMille book, this may be the one to pick. Skip the movie (which isn't THAT bad of an adaptation but will give away some of the good stuff) and zip through the book instead. The characters are lovable in their disdain for authority, the plot twists and turns until you're practically dizzy and you'll feel as if you've proudly served a tour of duty yourself when you finish.

I read this book after seeing the movie and there are some insights that you do not get from the movie. If you're a fan of forensics, this book is accurate though it doesn't delve into detail. And if you're an army brat, like me, I think it's one you appreciate even more--there's a great line about how army brats speak.... The red tape obsticals are believable and the characters are really likeable.

I enjoyed this book. Even though I'd seen the movie, it was such a long time ago that I'd forgotten the ending. It wasn't my favorite Nelson DeMille book (and he is my favorite author) since it seemed more like a mystery/detective style than his other books. Still, he writing is so good that it made me feel like I was their witnessing the events first hand.

My first Nelson DeMille experience and I was hooked. Once I've read one great book by an author, I have to go out and find more. DeMille seems to have a knack for writing about the frightening things that go on in the world - right under our noses. A side note: the movie was also excellent and didn't distort the storyline very far, as usually is the case.

i read this book at 1999. the story made me a bit scared and curious.
Captain Ann Campbell is a West Point graduate, the daughter of legendary General Joe Campbell. She is beautiful and had many affairs. Until one morning, she found murdered, naked and bound.
i also watch the movie, but read this book was more scary hehe..

I read this book in the summer of 1998 while I was working at the CIA. I got paid like 8$ an hour to sit in an empty office and wait for the phone to ring. It rang about twice a week. My "boss" felt sorry for me and gave me this book to read. It was better than waiting for the phone to ring.

Disturbing subject, but I really like Demille's books. Jessica, I'm glad you didn't follow in your fathers footsteps (being a General's daughter and all). I think you would like it and could relate to the military chain of command.

I'm now done with the book and I loved it!!! It was so good and kept my attention which can be hard. It wasn't very fast paced but it kept moving. I never felt as though the author was stalling, which I hate!!!

Great mystery of a rape case on a military base. Having been an Army officer wife, it was interesting to me and I felt like Nelson DeMille accurately described the way things are done in the military!

I read this book after seeing the movie with John Travolta. I found the movie good but I wonder what I had missed from the book. This started me on a journey of many of DeMille's books.

This book was so disturbing. Dylan and I both read it after stealing it from Mom. It was an easy read once you got past the disturbing nature of the crime and of the victim's life.

First DeMille book I read. It was a fantastic book and could picture Travolta as Paul while reading it. Love the movie years later! What a great sense of humor the author has.

The title is what caught my eye--I started reading and didn't put it down until I was done...if you liked the movie, then read the book which is better...

I was stuck on a train for more or less 7 hours and still couldn't bring myself to read it. I typically love DeMille but this is an awful book
