Happiness is not about what you will get, but what you have and do now.

Mungkin kalau lihat versi aslinya lebih ja...more

Sam, seorang bocah laki-laki berusia 11 tahun penderita leukimia lymphoblastic akut...menuliskan hari-hari terakhir dalanm hidupnya. Walaupun banyak...more
On the first page of this remarkable book, the main character clearly states "by the time you read this, I will probably be dead." This statement is all the more alarming because it is from the pen of an 11 year old boy with leukemia. Sam writes a book about his medical journey and the "questions nobody answers". As he considers these questions, he is preparing for his own death. This book is appropriate for middle grade, young adult and adult readers, who will find much ...more

reading it's nice... funny dan we already know what to expect. the story telling way-nya juga menyenangnkan... dan ceritanya simpel, though so, the end is nice-ly put dan put nicely...jadi, though dari pertama already knew that this sam is about to leave, since the pages since page 1 successfuly tickled dan menyentuh, jadinya, at the end really got sad for sam's departure, dan juga karena harus menutup halaman terakhir...hiks.

Yes this is another book about a dying child. And it was hard to read because Sam is 11 just like Patrick, but somehow this one was different. You know from the beginning what's going to happen, but it's not as dreary or heavy as most books of this type. I don't know if a real 11 year old in this situation would act as Sam does. You know sam has Luekemia and it's most likely fately, but instead of reading about Sam dying, you are really reading about Sam living. And yes he does have a to do l...more

Sam has actue lymphoblastic leukemia, for the third time. He's not going to survive it, so he does what anyone who wants to be remembered would do: writes a book. His book is a memoir, full of lists, like the list of things to do before he dies that his friend Felix, who's also pretty ill, suggested he make.
There's not much to be said about the plot, because we know at the beginning how it's going to end. This is not a book wherein someone creates a cure for cancer. It's sad, b...more

Beautiful yet a very touching story. About a little boy, Sam, who suffers acute strain of Leukemia. His teacher Mrs. Willis encouraged him and Felix, although Felix did nothing but complaint about everything, to write a book on their own.
Sam fills his book with list of things, questions about death, and what happened around him during those short period. For example his dad's reaction of his illness is portrayed like what most men is expected to react in such circumstances .. being ...more

I found this book while wondering around the children's section of Books Inc. The first thing that jumped out at me was the title. I'll often pick up books with catchy titles out of curiosity and this one really caught my attention. I read the inside flap, then flipped it open and started reading. I read twenty pages in the bookstore, then decided I had to get it.

No one at allrecommends it for: If you like the children and dramatical books, it's a must read!!!
When he was eight, the son of friends of mine went through a sort of John Webster phase, being much obsessed with death. His fondness for poking at road-kills and gazing at graveyards troubled his parents, of course, but not half as much as the interminable questions. What's it like to die? How do you know when you're dead? What happens afterwards? Why do we have to die anyway? These are "The Questions that Nobody Answers", according to Sam McQueen, the 11-year-old hero of Ways to Live...more

"BUY A BOOK BY ITS COVER!"

Sometimes we forget to appreciate the smallest things - this book reminded me that it's a priviledge to be able to wake up every morning.
Great, but sad memoir of a 11-year old boy dying of leukemia who is doing everything he can to make his dreams come true before his time runs out. He also tries to find answers to some existential questions about life, death and God.
Make sure there's a tissue box nearby :).

Superb story about a child in the last stages of leukemia. He tells his own story in the book he is writing, full of lists and questions and stories about his friend who also has cancer. Because this is told from the boy's point of view, it is not maudlin or heavy. It has a surprisingly light touch, but thoughtful, funny and, poignant.
I consider this a must read.
