Wow! What a fun read this was! This book was steamy hot, with two very likeable characters who were just perfect for each other, yet they had trouble believing it. I mean, who falls in love in just one week's time?

Bethany Dodson, the heroine, was a 30 year old virgin and the daughter of a well known millionaire businessman. Her parents wanted her to marry some creep for some business purpose and not because she loved him. Bethany had a lousy childhood, the only child of two selfish and uncaring parents, and the impending marriage to a man she didn't love was the last straw. She just wants to get away from her family, start a new life, and do all the things she couldn't while being the trophy daughter of a world famous businessman. If she could convince some poor unsuspecting man to marry her, she would have a new identity, and then she could finally get on with the life she'd like to have.

While attending a bachelorette party in Las Vegas, Bethany encounters the hero, Jack Johnson, in a bar. The sexy cowboy is drowning his sorrows over a broken engagement. Due to a stipulation in his late Grandfather's will, Jack needs to get married in order to claim his inheritance. He'd like to use the money to rebuild the ranch he lives on with his brothers and sister into the profitable Dude Ranch it once was. If he can find someone to marry him and stay married to him for a period of at least three months, he can claim his inheritance. Hmmn...Bethany wants a new name and a place to get lost. Jack needs a wife for a little while. While sharing a bottle of tequila, maybe these two could strike a deal? It doesn't hurt that they're wildly attracted to each other. But what will happen if that attraction turns to love? Will both of them end up hurt?

I just loved reading this one! It moved along so fast I read it in half a day. There was lots to like about this one. I like how the H/H met--they had a funny encounter in a hotel bar, and ended up married in a quickie Vegas style ceremony. There was lots and lots of funny and sexy dialogue between Jack and Bethany, and once Jack took Bethany's virginity, of course she turned into a romance novel sex-kitten! Lots and lots of steamy sex scenes between Jack and Bethany! But that's not all the book was about. There was an actual story that developed as Jack and Bethany realized they were falling in love with their spouse, yet afraid to admit it to themselves or each other for fear of getting hurt. Jack's brothers play an important part in the book, especially moody older brother Heath whose wife left him on their wedding night, and whose story is told in the follow-up book, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". There is actually a country music theme to these books, including the titles, and the song that Jack and Bethany first danced to in the bar, called "Must Be Doing Something Right", which they consider 'their song'--very sweet. If you're looking for a sweet, yet very sexy and downright erotic romance about a very likeable couple, "Tequila..." will definitely satisfy you!(less)

For those of you who like your erotic-romances to have a solid romance in them, then this is a great book to read! I don't mind erotic romance books that have tons of sex...they're fun to read ;) but sometimes, the romance angle lags behind. That doesn't happen in Cara North's "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" (by the way - fantastic title!). This is the first novel in the “Country Music” series, and it’s a cute, sweet, erotic love story. Before I tell you what it’s about, let me warn you. Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off is a cute but misleading title for this book. The name suggests a racy, risque heroine, which is not true of this story. Only with her husband does Bethany does shed her inhibitions and give her fantasies full rein. Although this was a very steamy book, the story was all about the tender romance and love that developed between Jack and Bethany. Their blossoming relationship was touching, and satisfying to read.

The heroine is a ditz who’s trying desperately to escape her control freak parents so she decides to get married to change her name by tying the knot in Vegas with Jack the complete stranger. She’s another one of those 30 year old virgin panty soakers who says and does stupid things every time a sex scene rolls around. Out of nowhere she also gets a backbone and can run a complicated ranch business by looking at a few spreadsheets –riiight. Ms MBA is supposed to be book smart but I don’t know how someone can be book smart when they come across as TSTL too many times to count. She has sex with stranger Jack and forgets the condom –so does he and he’s been around the block lots of times (‘cause that’s an attractive feature to extol to someone you’ve done the horizontal mambo with only the second time ---ew) all because of the “passion” that’s just not there if you ask me. She’s the kind of broad who stamps her feet in annoyance with her hands on her hips like a two-year old when things don’t go her way.

Some of the stupidest scenes include Ms Straight Laced going out not only commando in public but also in a tight sweater set without her bra on and she’s apparently booby girl –she feels so self-conscious about that and her general figure too and but she does it anyway. Totally unbelievable the way the story was set up. Another was this non-stop insecurity between the h/h constantly asking the other after sex “Did you like that? Tell me that you liked that baby? You liked that right? Tell me what you like?” hot and heavy panting surrounding all these scenes. Makes you want to holler “YES ALREADY! She/he liked that for friggin’ sake! Their eyes were rolling up in the back of their heads because you're such a god/goddess(!)” –pukeishly idiotic.

There are lots of annoying stereotypes in this story too: slutty best friend sleeps with heroine’s dad, skanky mom whores around and doesn’t love TSTL heroine, women are too complicated and they run hot and cold for nothing, I love you but I just met you, I revel in playing Betty Crocker/Pollyanna/Molly Maid even though it’s completely out of character based on what the author wrote, I wonder what our babies will look like (**gush gush – spew spew more like it**), hero has sex with a virgin gets all possessive/protective (you’d think you were reading a medieval the way he was going on), sweetheart this sweetheart that right off the bat but they barely remember the other person’s name, and I could go on and on.

So if you like stereotypical idiotic stories where just about everyone has a Look at me I am dumb sign plastered on their forehead in neon lights, then you have a good story here. As for me, it’s been a while since I’ve come across one of these “gems” but I have and it’s now the newest addition to the ol’ cootie-shelf.

Jack Jonhson and his siblings (Heath, Rafe and Jan) want to get the neglected family ranch they've inherited back to business, but they don't have the necessary funds to do it because their grandfather's will estipulates that they have to be over 25 years old and married for more than 3 months in order to receive any inheritance money. Jack goes to Vegas, hoping to convince a former girlfriend to marry and stay married to him for 3 months. When she asks for half of his inheritance to agree to the sham marriage, Jack refuses - he needs all the money to invest on the ranch - and is back to the beginning. Where can he find a woman to marry at short notice? A woman who doesn't have any interest in his money?

By fate, Bethany and Jack meet - in Vegas, of course -, down ~~some~~ several tequila shots, make out in the elevator and decide to get married - all the while, one thinking he/she is oh-so-smart and is tricking the other into marriage. The morning after, the truth is revealed - and without temper tantrums or accusations, they decide to head to Jack's ranch in Montana and fulfill the terms of his grandfather's will, agreeing that both of them benefit from their sham marriage. Will that be enough to "unlock" Jack's inheritance money? As for Bethany, will her father and her fiancé let her "escape" that easily? What about the unexpected feelings that Jack and Bethany start developing for each other? Will all be over after their 3-month marriage?

This was "just" an okay read to me. Jack and Bethany were nice, Jack's siblings were well-drawn but not particularly unforgettable, Bethany's fiancé was unpleasant but not hateful, Jack and Bethany's interactions were sometimes funny, sometimes sweet and sometimes downright steamy hot and kinky, but there was something missing. There was no real conflict in the story and although some readers might find that refreshing, I found myself wishing for an earthquake to shake things up. Considering their temporary arrangement, Jack and Bethany were wary of falling in love, of course, but the whole thing felt a bit bland to me. Maybe they were just the kind of people who aren't prone to outbursts of emotion, I don't know.

Last but not least, I have to comment on Ms. North's writing. English isn't my native language so I'm not the best person to correct anyone's English writing, but there were several grammatical and spelling errors in this book. Each time I found an error, I had to stop and think if my first impression was wrong or that was actually an error. Very annoying. :(

This was only my 1st read by Ms. North, so I can't say if the things that bothered me in this book are common or just a fluke. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and I'll have no problem giving her another try in the future.

This was a nice, modern-day romance with neat characters that fell in love as the story progressed. It was a fluke that the two main characters, Jack and Bethany, ran into each other in Vegas. Both were there looking for a spouse for different reasons. They married and thought it was a temporary fix for both their personal problems and fell in love. They both learned about each other and grew up in the process.

After reading other reviews about how fun and sexy this book was, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Everyone was so right! I loved Jack (and his brothers too). He tried so hard to be intuitive and understanding of Bethany. Gotta give the guy points just for effort - LOL. Heath's story is definitely on the to buy list now.

I liked the book no kidding! Although the plot didn´t sweep me off my feet there were many hot and steamy sex scenes...admittedly without them the book would have been rather short.

This might sound pretty critical or maybe I was just in a bad mood reading it, but I thought it was poorly written and developed with inconsistencies that got to me. For example I might be being picky here but, the heroine, Bethany, was from one of the richest families in the country and she made a comment about her special sweater set she was wearing was from Ann Taylor like it was up there with Gucci or Chanel. Not that Ann Taylor isn't good clothes, heck I shop there, but I doubt the Gates', Hilton's, or Buffets are frequent shoppers of everyday mall stores. Another thing was she raved about was her top business school degree from OSU, I am a Big Ten college graduate so don't hate me for dissing OSU, but it isn't Harvard, Stanford or University of Penn, where the economically elite often go- especially a sheltered, rich girl like Bethany. There were more inconsistencies in the book which I felt lowered the credibility of the author.

Regarding the story development, her parents were horrible, hated her, not a love bone in their bodies, why?? I am not sure- it seemed very cliched- and Bethany's whole conflict in the beginning of the book was to get away from her mean parents. The way she described them and the things they did I felt should have put them in jail-they should have been sterilized and not allowed to have kids because neither had a heart, but they were pillars of morality for America. This was basically given the space of a page and I needed more. I also didn't like Jack's family, lots of hints about their past problems, but they were just mean to each other. I don't think the author meant for them to come off this bad because she kept trying to give them some good qualities with a little blurb, but it didn't hit the mark for me.

The dialog and scenes also seemed very rushed, lacked emotion, no anticipation. They would just spill everything and resolve it in the same paragraph it seemed. For example, Bethany was bored so she glanced at Jack's computer (it was in the room she was suppose to stay out of per Jack). She saw his business plan he had been working on forever for his ranch and because of her top notch business degree she solved all the problems by the time he returned that night. Yeah right! I also had a hard time following what was going on sometimes because the descriptions weren't clear. I had to reread paragraphs to figure out where some things were coming from.

I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the sex scenes were amazing, for Bethany being a 30 year virgin she sure did her homework on the internet porn sites. Also I liked the characters, they were sweet and I rooted for their HEA, but underdeveloped.

Oh, and the girl is a virgin: if anyone ever came near her in the past, her father would buy them off to stay away from her. See, he needed her for business purposes, and when the right business deal came along in the form of someone just like him, he agreed to the marriage. Rich bastard. You can't sell your daughter!! Duh! (And we wonder why she's running?) Anyhoo... that's exactly what Beth's dad tried to do, and she knew her life would be miserable, so she plotted her escape. She thought she got Jack drunk on Patron. Who knew he could hold his liquor as well as she could? She basically dared him to get married, and he went for it... sober. And then we had the consummation, during which he figured out she was a virgin and he freaked just a little bit. Not so freaked out he didn't want to do it again that night. :-)

Anyway, after telling her friends off the following morning, Bethany went with Jack to Montana to his family's ranch. And she fell in love. With his truck, with his dogs, with his family, with ranch life.... with him. And even though Jack had really only seen the negative effects of love through his mother and then his brother's wife, he ultimately succumbed as well.

Bethany and Jack were so cute together. A bit insatiable as well. I thought it was great that even though Jack was experienced, they were able to do things together that he'd never experienced or wanted to experience with anyone else. And her education in business came in very handy with helping the siblings form a plan to really use their ranch the way they'd wanted to, but just didn't have the direction in the past.

All in all a really cute, sexy story. I know there's going to have to be some reconciliation between Heath and Chance, and I have a feeling Chance will become the ranch's new chef now that she's back in town. And something's going to have to give with Rafe's situation, so I look forward to the next one!(less)

The base of the romance was pretty good but the over all story could have been better. What really made this an enjoyable read were the main characters Jack and Bethany. So I decided at my blog to do a month dedicated to cowboy's to fit in with the fact I WILL be reading Lorelei James new book:D This book had been on my to-read pile for a while; the title appealed to me and I had heard some good things from reviewer's whose opinion I have come to trust. Bethany visits Vegas on her Hen party. After finding out her husband to be is a lot of an idiot, she decides that what she needs is out of the toxic relationship. Deciding that she needs to find "a real man" and have some hot sex she heads to a bar. There she meets Jack, a tall and dark Cowboy, who needs to be married in order to gain his inheritance. He doesn't bother to tell her they need to be married until after lot's of steamy sex (in a lift, in a vending area, in a hotel suite.......it was surprising they didn't end up with friction burns by the end of this book) and a shot-gun wedding. With a new last name, and husband, Bethany ends up as far away from her upper class upbringing as is humanly possible when she agrees to remain married to Jack for the 3 month period required by his Grandfathers' will. She ends up with 2 new-brothers in-law as housemates, 2 great dane puppies and a husband who seemingly doesn't know what to do with her. He end's up with an insatiable sex addict who wriggles herself into his family and turns his preconceptions of love and marriage upside down. Neither expect, or want, to fall in love but, of course, they do.

Honestly I started this book and thought it was the biggest pile of tosh I had ever read. The writing didn't flow and the e-copy I had was full of typo's and formatting errors. By chapter 2 I was hooked. The writing started to flow better, along with being incredibly entertaining, and the characters were slowly worming themselves into my heart. Jack is a gruff cowboy who doesn't know quite what to do with Bethany or his feeling's toward's her. She didn't tell him she was a virgin, she is completely sexually unihibited, she is smart enough to sort out his finances and he enjoys himself when he's with her. He can't help but start to fall for her which, of course, means he starts to push her away. She has agreed to stay for the 3 month's but, as far as he is aware, that is all she is staying for. He has a shining example in his gruff (yet adorable) brother Heath of what can happen when one person is in love and the other isn't. Bethany has no such fears. She falls for Jack quickly, and tells him so at one point, but is willing to take this one day at a time. After several mis-understandings (including Bethanys ass of a fiance showing up) they of course get their HEA.

The main part of this book is sex. There is lots and lots of sex. There is lift sex, outdoor sex, a blow-job scene(which completely obliterates the laws of the road), a shower scene, role-playing games, anal sex..........she went from virgin to Little Miss Kinky in around a week! The scenes are absolutely smoking. The author doesn't shy away from the graphic detail, but laces it with enough emotion to make the pages sizzle. I particulary enjoyed the dirty-talk that punctuated all their sex scenes and the apple-thief sex-fantasy.....I don't think I have read book where there was so much FUN in sex for two characters. Normally it's all dark and intense with sweat and groaning but these were two people who enjoyed the variation and experimentation aspects of the bedroom.

The side-characters were engaging and played a their own part in
pushing the story forward. Rafe (who is described by Bethany as like a "girlfriend") is the charming brother who is basically actively stalking a female who isn't giving him a lot back. Heath is the gruff brother whose wife left him on their wedding day (I see his book being brilliant :D) We see a little bit of his sister and her husband, although I think because they don't have their own book, we will probably learn more about them as the series progresss.

I loved this book but the typo's got on my nerves. Because of this, and the opening scene which didn't work for me, I have to give it 4 stars. Do read it.....It's a fabulous read and a good example of how a book can be erotic without being meaningless, mechanical sex! (less)

With a humdinger for a title and glowing reviews from just about everyone else who’s read it, I was expecting this book to blow my pants off.

Too bad, so sad because I thought this was seriously stupid. I got the version that was riddled with typos (Los Vegas, come on, are you fucking serious?!?!?) The premise was absurd and the characters never felt like real people to me. I thought this book was really cute. I loved how in the beginning, they both had an ulterior motive for the marriage and were able to grow and learn more about each other. I think the heroine needed a good strong man to show her that she wasn't lacking. And it was nice to see the hero see that he needed to grow up.

I was attracted this book because of the title. I've been known to have the same side effect from tequila *blush*. But this was absolutely ADORABLE! It was really cute. A little predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. I want to read the rest of the series now. :)
