Dogs Don't Wear Sneakers
Animals would look pretty silly doing a lot of the things people do all the time. The unlikely combinations in Laura Numeroff's cheerful rhymes and Joe Mathieu's bright, zany pictures will make you laugh out loud. What sort of crazy creatures can you dream up?

A delightful, poetic book with engaging illustrations that grab and hold the attention of even the youngest members enjoying this story. This book was one my two year old daughter wanted read over and over each night, as well as a delightful story that a teacher can use to begin a writer's workshop illustrating poetry and fantasy. The story ends with a question causing the reader to realize this was someone's dream fantasy and invites them to dream up their own silly story.

This is another very entertaining book. Kids will get a kick out of the not-so-normal state that these animals are in. The book rhymes to add some more fun to the mix but the focus of the book as you reach the end is about imagination. The author tells the reader that these things may not ever really happen but asks what the reader can imagine. I think the main point would be to show students that their imagination can take them anywhere! I would use this to introduce a writing workshop to encou...more
This is an extremely fun and easy read for younger elementary students or English Language Learners. The book has great detailed illustrations that students will love and fun rhyming schemes that will keep the readers engaged. It's a silly book that I would read to my students if I had extra time to fill in especially since it is a pretty short read. I definitely recommend this book for pleasure reading.
this is a good story for practicing rhyming words and rhythm and has a good prompt for writing at he end that asks the kids about what they see in their dreams , since this story is clearly a fantasy, they ask you what yours would be and you could have the kids write their own fantasy rhyming story!

We've enjoyed the If You Give A... series of books by this author, and this title looked interesting. The narrative is silly and fun and the illustrations depict the absurdity with humor. The rhyming narrative is catchy and the story is short, so it's fun to read aloud.
Dog's don't usually wear sneakers. But hey! It's your dream. What else is happening?
Cute story about human behaviors that would appear strange if animals did them.
