Visions of Heat is the second book in Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series and yet another great installment. Like I said in my review of Slave to Sensation, I did not expect to like this series. As a matter of fact, I figured that I would read the first one and have no desire to continue the series. Boy was I ever wrong. I'm sitting here at 1:52 A.M. wishing that I had the third book so I could start it right away tomorrow. Alas, it is not to be. But damn, I really need to get out and buy these More...

“Tell a child something often enough and she starts to believe it.” ~ Sascha to Faith
*sigh* I LOVED this book even more the second time around!!

While my re-read of Slave to Sensation had me dreaming (again!) about being enslaved by the delicious Lucas Hunter *grins*... it more seriously had me contemplating the concept of a “society without emotion”, that is the Psy. In my re-read of Visions of

I originally put this as 4 stars, but after rereading it I have decided it deserves 5 stars instead!

This book in the Psy-Changeling series focuses on the Senital Vaughn, a Changeling whose Jaguar lives closer to the surface then most, and Faith Nightstar an F-Psy, which is a Psy that can forecast the future. Faith only forecasts about business and commerce all other events being surpressed by the Silence protocol, murder and death, fear and anger are not allowed by the Psy. But rece More...

^^ VISIONS OF VAUGHN!^^

If Vaughn was a Tree: I would climb him and make a nest.
A Medium Size Pool: I would do laps all day long.
A Bath Tub: I would soak all day.
If Vaughn was naked, I would be naked too.

I am happy that I enjoyed the second book in the Psy-Changeling series; I was having some doubts after the first one where it took some time to really get into the story. I was in love in love from the moment the very sexy Sentinel na More...

The next book in Psy-Changeling series takes up the story of Vaughn (cool, loner, more cat than man) and Faith( Psy,vulnerable because of her ability and because she makes alot of money for psy business). In the second book we learn more about how the Psy world operates but we also learn that there is alot more going on than anyone can imagine.

Faith and Vaughns story was passionate altho' not as much so as Sascha and Lucas. Faith has been protected by the Psy because of her r More...

5 stars – Paranormal Romance

Visions of Heat is a fantastic second book that goes further into the escalating conflict between the emotionless, cold, psychically powerful Psy race and the Changelings (shifters that are both human and animal) in the year 2079.

Faith Nightstar is a powerful F-Psy, a foreseer, who has been completely isolated due to the dangerous power and strain of her potent psychic ability and used for the monetary gain of the Psy-Council. But lately she’ More...

While I did love this book, it wasn't as good for me as book 1 was. And I only can say this after the re-read because the first time I definitely enjoyed this book way better than the first. It's just that now that I'm re-reading the series I got to understand everything better and see things differently.

This is just an amazing series and every instalment is so much worth of anybody's time. It has such a terrific plot and an original world building that you never get enough, always More...

Visions of Heat is the second book in Singh’s amazing Psy-Changling series. And although I adored Lucas Hunter in the first book, I think his Sentinel Vaughn is giving the alpha a run for his money!

I adore Vaughn! Of the Pack, his animal side prowls at the surface of his mind more than the others. As a jaguar, he has this wild possessiveness and dark sensuality that makes him stand out of the Pack. I definitely wouldn’t mind finding him crawling through my sunroof! I adored his all- More...

Slave to Sensationwas one of the first books I read in 2009 and is still my favourite read so far this year. I was busting to learn more about Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling world and be swept off my feet by all new love stories so I dived into Visions of Heat.

The novel centres on Faith Nightstar, an F-Psy who is being exploited for her accurate visions of the future. Her visions cause her to be so sensitive she has had very minimal contact with other people and is overwhelmed by th More...

Foresight. Precognition. The third eye. If these were musical compositions, they'd be grouped together as ubiquitous, omnipresent 'variations on a theme'. The notion of the sibyl seems, after all, to resonate across the entirety of the literary canon, with stories abounding of people, usually women, capable of seeing into what is for the rest of us an impermeable fog. While foresight and future-seeing are staples of superstitious tales of the fantastic, they've also taken a strong hold in scienc More...

The strangest thing about liking this book so much is that neither Faith nor Vaughn are the type of characters that I normally enjoy reading about. They are both strong, but isolated.

Vaughn is a jaguar living among leopards. His past isn't very pretty and he is more animal than man. So when he is drawn to Faith, a F-psy, the attraction is incomprehensible, but that doesn't stop him. Faith's powers are drawing into something that scares her to the point that she is willing to ask the More...

Vaughn and Faith aren't my favorite Psy/Changeling Couple. While Faith is a very interesting character, both because of her mental ability to foresee future events, as the fact that sh's a very powerful Psy statuswise - the story itself never reaches its full potential.

Vaughn is supposed to be this wild animal, but I don't get the same feeling with him as for example with Hawk, who also lives with his animal clos More...

4.5 stars.

I liked this book better than the first installment Slave to Sensation. The two books are very very similar in their structure: the hot changeling Alpha hero and the cold Psy heroine; the threat to the heroine, perceived as a flaw in her mental state; the Council and its politics and machinations; the slow gaining of trust between the hero with his Pack members and the heroine.

Maybe its because I already knew about the world that the author has been building, but I More...

Visions of Heat matches up an F-Psy (foresight = sees the future) with a Changeling hero. This is another great addition to one of my favorite PNR series. Great character development, fast paced engrossing storyline, excellent world building, and good romance. I love how the author develops story arcs that cross books in the series (especially as the series goes on).

If you haven't read this author and you like paranormal romance, I recommend giving this series a try. I also love her n More...

Singh's Psy-Changeling series is quite possibly the best paranormal/romance out there right now. With two in the series and one on the way (Caressed by Ice), it's fresh with an exciting futuristic world that little others have touched on. A world of the Extra Sensory Perception and Changlings (otherwise known as the "Were"), so incorporated into normal life, it has it's own set of rules to govern it.

In Visions of Heat, we have an off the scale Future Seeing Psy named Faith More...

I really, really wanted to love this book because I adored the first book in the series, Slave to Sensation. Sadly, this one fell short of the high bar that Singh set for herself in book one.

The hero, Vaughn, is damaged from his past and his animal is seriously close to the surface at all times. The heroine, Faith, is a F-Psy (foreseeing) that has been sheltered all of her life - and by sheltered, I mean, locked up in a house by herself under constant monitoring due to her being the More...

Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous—aching need...exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her.

Changeling Vaughn D'Angelo can take the fo

I definitely liked this book better than the first Psy-Changeling novel. This was a much fuller story. I had the sense that the author had a plan as she wrote this installment.

In Visions, Singh has developed her vision of the future, and she has the perfect tool: a character deeply entrenched in the world and workings of the cold, mentally gifted Psy. Whereas the first novel's protagonist, Sascha, lived on the fringes of her community as a "defective" Psy, Faith is a highl More...

Second book in the Excellent Psy-Changeling series.

F-Psy is the designation given to those Psy who foresee the future. Before Silence, F-Psys died at an alarming rate. They could get lost in their visions and forget to eat and sometimes to even breathe and often went insane at very early ages. Under Silence, their visions of death, destruction and violence were suppressed and re-channeled to forecast business and trends.

Faith Nightstar is the most powerful F-Psy living. More...

Pretty good. It may have been better than the first of the series, but I think I enjoyed it less because I had higher expectations. Faith, the most powerful F-Psy (foresight) alive, seeks out Sascha when she starts having unusual, violent visions. Vaughn, one of Lucas' Sentinels, is immediately drawn to her. As in the first, a Psy serial killer is hunting down women, but this plot is kept in the background. Most of the focus is on Faith overcoming her conditioning and Vaughn stalking her.

My Review:
I can already foresee that this is going to be one of my favorite series. Wow, this was a fabulous book. Quite honestly, I am not sure that I have put enough thought into the book to review it yet, because there are a lot of underlying "lessons" woven into the story. I like a book that can make you think. Well, sometimes anyway...a lot of times, I just read for the entertainment value. Luckily this book was full of both things!

Now that I have started on my mission to get that much closer to reading Kiss of Snow, the story of the delectable alpha of the SnowDancer's pack, I am slowly making my way towards reaching my ultimate goal which hopefully I should by sometime next month.

Faith NightStar is a rare Cardinal F-Psy of extraordinary ability and is considered the most valuable asset to the NightStar clan, for her visions are worth millions and perhaps even billions. Her visions have always been business related but lately a darkness has coated certain visions in blood making her taste fear….but a Psy do not feel, so how does one recognize emotion? A compulsion drives Faith to reach out to Sascha of the DarkRiver pack and a born E-Psy.

What a smoking hot book this was. I was happy that this book was on the top of TBR pile. (Yes we all have one.) What this book had that I liked a lot about it was strong characters and the author has created a wonderful world that I just wanted to get lost in.

My thoughts:

Nalini Singh is one my favourite author´s. Nothing can change my mind on that. But after Slave to Sensation I must say that I´m kind of disappointed in Visions of Heat.

Faith Nighstar lives - due to her abilities - in an isolated area. She is the best foreseer in world, but suddenly she starts getting dark visions, which is disturbing for a normal F-Psy. They are signs of madness and even a foreseer does not need to see the result of that in a visi More...

I spent most of my holiday break plowing through this series and have only one more installment to go before I've read everything thus far (including both novellas, thank you very much.)
